Requirements
  • MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent.
  • Eligibility for a state medical license.
  • Meeting United Network for Organ Sharing and Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network requirements.
  • Completion of a fellowship in nephrology and a fellowship in transplant nephrology.
  • Board certification in internal medicine and certification or eligibility in nephrology.
  • At least one year of experience in transplant nephrology.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
Responsibilities
  • Provide medical leadership to the renal transplant program.
  • Work with the Surgical Director to ensure the ongoing clinical operations of the kidney transplant program comply with United Network for Organ Sharing bylaws and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services regulations.
  • Guide the evaluation and planning for kidney and heart-kidney transplant patients through all phases of transplantation.
  • Actively participate in program growth with other members of the leadership team, including the Patient Selection Committee, quality assurance and performance improvement, strategic planning, and research initiatives.
  • Support the Nephrology section's clinical practice needs, including inpatient and outpatient nephrology as needed.
  • Provide patient care.
  • Teach medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Mentor and educate transplant staff in the care of kidney patients and provide ongoing support.
