Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • January 2026 EBJ recognition validated Pace's 2025 acquisitions and Building Sciences expansion.
  • Pace gained Catalent's RTP analytical services lab in 2024, strengthening life sciences capacity.
  • Wildfire response and rapid local testing drive recurring demand for Pace's nearby lab footprint.

What critics are saying

  • PE-backed rollups depend on integration; 2025 acquisitions in California, Colorado, Oklahoma, and New Jersey strain execution.
  • PFAS demand hinges on regulation; if EPA Method 563 stalls, Pace's new method loses urgency.
  • Ken Beyer's December 2025 CEO appointment signals transition risk across Pace's multi-division network.

What makes Pace Analytical Services unique

  • Pace pairs national labs with local service, spanning environmental and life sciences testing.
  • April 2025 DOD accreditation made Pace the only lab covering ASTM D8421, D8535, EPA 8327.
  • Pace launched ultrashort-chain PFAS testing in March 2026, ahead of EPA Method 563.

Pace(R) launches new testing method for ultrashort-chain PFAS.

Pace(R) launches new testing method for ultrashort-chain PFAS. New method helps researchers, regulators, and innovators better understand the full PFAS picture Minneapolis, MN - March 12, 2026 - Pace(R) Analytical Services, the preferred provider of regulatory testing and analytical laboratory services, and a Division of Pace(R), a Science and Technology Company, announced today the launch of a new proprietary testing method designed to detect ultrashort-chain per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). Ultrashort-chain PFAS, defined as compounds with three or fewer carbon atoms, are recognized by researchers as both highly persistent and exceptionally mobile in groundwater. Despite their prevalence, these compounds are not included in published PFAS method lists such as 537.1, 533, or 1633. "Most PFAS testing today captures only a small fraction of the more than 15,000 PFAS compounds that exist," stated Nick Nigro, PFAS Product Manager, Pace(R). "Ultrashort-chain PFAS are often present at much higher concentrations than their longer chain counterparts, yet they've remained outside the scope of standard methods until very recently. This new method helps close a gap in our understanding of PFAS occurrence and behavior in the environment." Pace(R) developed this method based on a forthcoming U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) drinking water method, currently in development and expected to be published as EPA Method 563. The Pace(R) method uses comparable instrumentation and quantification techniques for established PFAS methods, ensuring consistency and reliability in aqueous samples. Pace(R) is a portfolio company of Leonard Green & Partners and Los Angeles-based Aurora Capital Partners. About Pace(R) Analytical Services Pace(R) makes the world a safer, healthier place. Pace(R) people are committed to advancing the science of businesses, industries, consulting firms, government agencies, and others by providing local-level service backed by a national laboratory network. Through its in-lab and emergency onsite containment and regulatory services, Pace Analytical Services, LLC ensure its air, water, soil, and more are safe for its communities and lives. Pace(R) also supports customers with in-house labs, providing a range of professional services to keep their operations moving forward. * Date: March 12, 2026

Pace Analytical launches testing method for ultrashort-chain PFAS in groundwater

Pace Analytical Services has launched a new proprietary testing method to detect ultrashort-chain per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), compounds with three or fewer carbon atoms. The new method addresses a significant gap in PFAS testing, which currently captures only a small fraction of the more than 15,000 known PFAS compounds. Pace wins EBJ award for four strategic acquisitions expanding Building Sciences services

Pace Analytical Services has received a 2025 Environmental Business Journal Business Achievement Award for Mergers and Acquisitions, recognising its strategic expansion through four acquisitions last year. The company acquired Micron Environmental Labs and Patriot Labs in California, DCM Laboratories in Colorado, and Quantem Laboratories in Oklahoma. These acquisitions expanded Pace's national footprint and testing capabilities, including Respirable Crystalline Silica testing and food safety microbiology services. The facilities proved particularly valuable during California's wildfires, enabling rapid testing results for public health decisions. The acquisitions strengthen Pace's Building Sciences portfolio, which evaluates and mitigates health hazards in built environments. Pace is a portfolio company of Leonard Green & Partners and Aurora Capital Partners. The award will be presented at the Environmental Industry Summit in San Diego in April 2026.
