Banijay acquires Squeezie's YouTube format Stop the Train.

Banijay acquires Squeezie's YouTube format Stop the Train. 22 Apr 2026 Banijay has acquired the global rights to Stop the Train, a format created by Squeezie, further highlighting the growing convergence between digital creators and the audiovisual industry. Originally released on YouTube in September 2025 under the title Qui réussira à stopper le train?, the 90-minute format features ten content creators competing in a series of high-intensity challenges aboard a moving train. Developed by Unfold, the project has generated over 15 million views, standing out as one of the creator's most ambitious productions. Following the acquisition, Banijay plans to develop international adaptations for both streaming platforms and linear television. Local versions are expected to feature region-specific digital talent, in line with existing adaptation strategies. The move builds on Banijay's established track record in global format distribution, including LOL: Last One Laughing and Ninja Warrior, both successfully adapted across multiple territories and platforms. The deal reflects a broader industry trend, with digital-native content increasingly entering traditional production and distribution ecosystems, opening new opportunities for cross-platform development and global reach.

The Inbetweeners 'returning to screens' after 16 years.

The Inbetweeners 'returning to screens' after 16 years. The Inbetweeners could be making a huge comeback with a Netflix film more than 15 years after the Channel 4 show ended, with all four original stars reportedly on board. News Sam Elliott-Gibbs Reporter and Caroline Hemmingham Audience Editor - Yorkshire Live 09:18, 11 Apr 2026 The beloved comedy The Inbetweeners could be set for a major return, with all four original cast members reportedly ready for a reunion more than 15 years after the show first aired. Article continues below Despite running for just three series and two subsequent films, the iconic Noughties sitcom remains amongst the most cherished British programmes of recent decades. A new film is now reportedly close to completion, with a multi-million-pound agreement "being finalised" - potentially arriving on Netflix next year. The Channel 4 series centred on Will McKenzie (Simon Bird), Simon Cooper (Joe Thomas), Jay Cartwright (James Buckley), and Neil Sutherland (Blake Harrison) as the socially awkward mates navigated their teenage years with frequently catastrophic consequences. Emily Atack, who portrayed the much-discussed Charlotte "Big Jugs" Hinchliffe, is also said to be keen on returning to her role, with other original cast members reportedly weighing up offers. Several of the boys' parents, including Belinda Stewart-Wilson - Will's flirtatious mum Polly - are likely to feature prominently on fans' wishlists. A source revealed to The Sun: "Inbetweeners fans will be thrilled and relieved because when talk of a reboot emerged last year, there were fears it might not turn out to be a telly project," They added: "But this deal will mean the comedy will be back on its television screens for the first time in 16 years, even though it won't in its original home on Channel 4. "Netflix have been keen to make the project happen partly because its enjoyed a bit of a renaissance since old episodes aired on the streaming service and introduced a whole new generation to the show. The deal is on the cusp of being fully rubber stamped, with discussions still happening about production timelines, storylines and cast.", reports the Mirror. Actor Joe, who played the romantically unfortunate Simon, has spoken out about the show's potential comeback, confirming that something is indeed in the pipeline. Despite this, the 42 year old has kept his cards close to his chest regarding what viewers can expect. He revealed: "I can't really say anything more than what's already been put out there, which is basically that a deal has been struck between [TV production sisters] Fudge Park and Banijay, which means that it's now possible to do more." Article continues below He added: "I haven't seen anything from them about what that might be, so I'm sort of, to a certain extent, waiting to hear as well." Creators Morris and Beesley have already put fans' minds at ease by confirming the reboot will not centre around an entirely new cast of characters. In a light-hearted statement, they clarified: "Incredibly exciting to be plotting more adventures for our four favourite friends (ooh friends)." Last summer, speculation ran wild amongst fans when Joe and James, who portrayed Jay, posted a mysterious image on Instagram that set tongues wagging about a potential reunion. While the duo remained tight-lipped, James simply captioned the post: "Working on something..." One eager follower questioned: "Inbetweeners 3?" while others shared their hopes for what a comeback might entail. One enthusiast commented: "We need an Inbetweeners reunion. Set 10/15 years later. Jay gets married and carnage ensues. American Pie reunion showed that it can be done well," adding a fingers crossed emoji for good measure. Another supporter plainly stated: "Inbetweeners 3, we waiting," while someone else quipped: "Where are the other two melons?"
