Requirements
A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in architecture, construction management, engineering, environmental services, or related coursework is required.
A valid New York State driver's license is required.
Responsibilities
Function as a member of a project team and, under direct supervision, perform elementary assignments while receiving training in the use of personal computers and various software programs.
Assist in making decisions and taking timely actions to expedite completion of the construction process.
Assist in ensuring quality and high standards of contract performance and compliance in both design and construction.
Assist in correcting mistakes and errors before they are extensively incorporated into the project.
Apply project management principles while learning established practices under the direct supervision of a Project Manager.
Assist in preparing activity schedules and reviewing consultant proposals, including scopes of work, staffing charts, labor cost charts, and cost estimates, while checking for inconsistencies and errors.
Maintain a management information system to provide data for planning and controlling project development.
Assist with investigating and resolving design and construction issues.
Visit various job sites as required to perform the stated duties.
Perform other related tasks.
Summary of Position:
The Assistant Project Manager I reports to a Project Manager, Level I, II, III or to a Senior Project Manager. Assistant Project Managers may perform a broad range of supportive and necessary technical tasks of varying degrees of difficulty in a variety of assignments within the Construction Management Dept. while receiving training in all phases of assigned construction projects related to the mission.
