Jupiter Medical Center expands orthopedic innovation with MISHA(R) Knee System.

Jupiter Medical Center expands orthopedic innovation with MISHA(R) Knee System. JMC is first in Florida to offer minimally invasive implant for medial knee osteoarthritis Jupiter, FL - February 25, 2026 - Jupiter Medical Center (JMC) announced today that it has completed its first implantation of the MISHA(R) Knee System, the first implantable shock absorber (ISA) designed to reduce load on the knee joint, relieve pain, preserve function, and potentially delay the need for total knee replacement surgery. The procedure was performed by Marc Matarazzo, MD, a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon. This milestone introduces to the region a technology recently approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), offering a new treatment option for patients with mild to moderate medial knee osteoarthritis who have exhausted conservative therapies but are not yet candidates for joint replacement. "I'm truly honored to have performed the first MISHA(TM) Knee System implantation in the state of Florida," said Dr. Matarazzo. "This technology represents a major advancement in treating patients suffering from medial knee osteoarthritis, and our commitment to offering state-of-the-art orthopedic solutions and alternatives to joint replacement." The MISHA Knee System is implanted on the medial side, inner aspect of the knee during a minimally invasive outpatient procedure. As a tissue-sparing ISA, it requires no bone cutting and preserves the articulating cartilage surfaces of the knee, maintaining options for future treatment. It is placed under the skin, outside the joint itself, and acts as a shock absorber, reducing peak knee forces by over 30 percent. The procedure does not impose restrictions on weight-bearing or on returning to activity after surgery. "Being the first in Florida to offer this FDA-approved technology underscores our commitment to ensure patients in our region have access to the most advanced treatment options, without needing to leave their community for care," said Amit Rastogi, MD, MHCM, President and CEO of Jupiter Medical Center. "This milestone reflects our long-term investments in innovation, access, and exceptional clinical outcomes." Through physician expertise, continued investment in advanced orthopedic technologies, and significant campus expansion, including the new Tim and Jayne Donahue Patient Care Tower with two dedicated floors for inpatient orthopedic care and rehabilitation, Jupiter Medical Center is advancing a comprehensive, integrated approach to musculoskeletal care. These collective investments further strengthen its position as the region's leading destination for orthopedic and rehabilitative services. JMC's commitment to high-quality orthopedic care has consistently earned significant national recognition, including being named Money's "Best Orthopedic Hospitals" and earning U.S. News & World Report's "High Performing" ratings in hip fracture, hip replacement, and knee replacement. Additionally, JMC's orthopedic program has achieved four highly sought-after distinctions: Blue Distinction Center+ for Knee & Hip Replacement; and The Joint Commission certifications for Hip and Knee Replacement, Shoulder Replacement, and Spine Surgery. ABOUT JUPITER MEDICAL CENTER Rated #1 in the region for quality, safety and patient experience, Jupiter Medical Center is the leading destination for world-class health care in Palm Beach County and across the Treasure Coast.
