Requirements
  • The start date for the position is August 1, 2026.
  • The position is open to candidates who have a Ph.D. in Finance, Economics, or a related field, or to applicants who are doctoral students in those fields and plan to complete the requirements by December 2026.
  • The ideal candidate will have evidence of effective teaching, an experience-appropriate record of research, and clear promise of conducting innovative and important research publishable in top finance journals.
  • The candidate should demonstrate the ability to advance a cutting-edge, compelling, and impactful research agenda.
  • The candidate is expected to work actively with doctoral students, teach in undergraduate and graduate programs, and contribute to the administration of the Area and Faculty.
  • McGill University is an English-language university, requiring English communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness should be provided if applicable as part of the application materials.
  • The application materials must be submitted through Workday; three letters of reference should be sent via email.
Responsibilities
  • Advance a cutting-edge, compelling, and impactful research agenda in Finance.
  • Teach in undergraduate and graduate programs at McGill University.
  • Supervise or actively work with doctoral students.
  • Contribute to the administration of the Finance Area and the Desautels Faculty of Management.
  • Engage in ethical research and scholarly activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the department and broader faculty, including involvement with Research Institutes and Centres such as the Desmarais Global Finance Research Centre.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of French or willingness to learn French is desirable.
  • Research interests in Asset Pricing / Investments and/or alignment with the faculty priority areas of Innovation, Analytics, AI and Advanced Digital Technologies, Sustainability, or Equity, Diversity & Inclusion are desirable.
  • Experience with teaching effectiveness evidence and success in publishing in top finance journals may be considered desirable but is strongly encouraged.
  • Candidates demonstrating potential who are doctoral students and plan to complete by December 2026 are considered desirable.
