Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Three to six or more years of relevant experience, including at least two years in applications engineering, at least three years developing metrology inspection strategies, and at least three years working with computer-aided design software.
  • A strong foundation in precision dimensional metrology.
  • Deep knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, calibration, measurement uncertainty, measurement system analysis, and statistics.
  • Experience with contact and non-contact metrology systems, including coordinate measuring machines, profilometers, interferometry, structured light, laser triangulation, linear variable differential transformers, chromatic confocal systems, and capacitive sensors.
  • Proficiency with metrology and three-dimensional analysis software, including Metrolog X4, PC-DMIS, Calypso, PolyWorks, and ATOS (GOM).
  • Ability to generate inspection data from computer-aided design models.
  • Experience with computer numerical control machines or advanced capital equipment.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills in geometry, trigonometry, and statistics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel.
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git or SVN.
  • Availability for periodic travel of up to approximately 25%.
  • A valid driver's license and passport, along with the ability to travel.
  • Eligibility to work on International Traffic in Arms Regulations-regulated programs as a U.S. Person defined by ITAR.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute inspection strategies and Design of Experiments.
  • Perform statistical analysis, measurement system analysis, and repeatability and reproducibility studies.
  • Measure and validate dimensional data using contact and non-contact tools.
  • Analyze measurement results against customer, internal, and industry standards.
  • Identify root causes of measurement deviations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Apply scientific methods to document assumptions, hypotheses, and conclusions.
  • Act as a technical liaison and prepare performance and capability reports.
  • Develop coordinate measuring machine programs, inspection routines, macros, and reporting tools.
  • Define inspection protocols and coordinate systems based on computer-aided design models.
  • Create three-dimensional measurement references and inspection data using computer-aided design tools.
  • Evaluate sensor performance and recommend improvements.
  • Support system development, debugging, and release, including functional and factory acceptance testing.
  • Support integration, testing, and debugging of systems.
  • Participate in system and equipment design and continuous improvement.
  • Supervise installation and ensure systems meet performance specifications.
  • Contribute to user manuals, technical documentation, and training materials.
  • Provide cross-functional technical support and training.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with SolidWorks is preferred.
  • Basic programming knowledge in C#, C++, or programmable logic controllers is a plus.
  • Experience in coordinate measuring machine and metrology environments is preferred.

Sandvik partners with Rio Tinto to integrate autonomous drilling systems across Australian mines

Sandvik has partnered with Rio Tinto to integrate its i-series surface drill rigs with Rio Tinto's Autonomous Drilling System. The collaboration will combine Sandvik's AutoMine automation technology with Rio Tinto's remote operations expertise to improve safety, productivity and system interoperability in open-pit mining. Development will be managed through Rio Tinto's Perth Operations Centre, beginning with testing at Sandvik's facility in Finland. Field trials will follow at Rio Tinto's Western Australian operations to evaluate performance against production targets. The project leverages existing autonomous infrastructure at Rio Tinto's iron ore sites and aligns with both companies' expansion plans, including Sandvik's recent copper mine equipment orders and Rio Tinto's $1.5 billion Quebec smelter expansion, due to complete by end-2026.

Sandvik reports $3B revenue, 23% order intake growth in Q1 2026

Swedish engineering group Sandvik reported strong first-quarter results for 2026, with order intake rising 23% to SEK 36.8 billion and revenues increasing 15% to SEK 30.7 billion, both at fixed exchange rates and organically. The company's adjusted EBITA margin improved to 20.0% from 19.7% in the prior year period, whilst adjusted EBIT margin reached 18.6%, up from 18.0%. Adjusted profit before tax rose to SEK 5.5 billion from SEK 5.0 billion. Diluted earnings per share increased to SEK 3.09 from SEK 2.97, whilst adjusted diluted earnings per share reached SEK 3.27, up from SEK 3.01.
