The Hiatt Career Center serves 3,600 undergraduate students and alumni in developing the skills to transform their unique backgrounds, liberal arts education, and experiential learning into meaningful professional futures and relationships. Our external engagement team collaborates with employers, alumni, parents, and volunteers to create recruiting, networking, and educational opportunities for our students and alumni.
We are hiring for an Assistant Director of External Engagement to build on our recent successes and expand our outreach. You will cultivate partnerships with employers, alumni, and industry professionals to create pathways to high-quality professional opportunities. This role reports to the Associate Director of Engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Employer & External Relations:
- Build and manage relationships with employers, alumni, volunteers, and other external partners.
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives to connect students with external partners for networking, recruiting, and professional development opportunities.
- Organize employer events, such as career fairs and industry panels, and collaborate with external partners on educational programs for students and alumni.
- Collect, analyze, and manage key data to track engagement success and inform decision-making.
- Foster connections between current students and Brandeis alumni through mentoring programs, industry meet-ups, and informational interviews.
- Actively participate in local, state, regional, and national professional organizations to expand career opportunities for students and alumni.
- Support employer engagement efforts by marketing career services to new employers and industries, focusing on high-growth sectors.
Work Environment: Brandeis is a liberal arts college within a research university, offering a tight-knit, collaborative community. Hiatt Career Center staff work 35 hours per week with a hybrid work model, allowing for flexible scheduling. Some early morning or evening hours may be required for events or special initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, with 3-5 years of experience in recruiting (university, private, public sector), volunteer management, alumni engagement, career services, sales, business development, customer service, or related areas.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office, Excel, databases, and web-based software.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Problem-solving skills and an entrepreneurial mindset to drive initiatives forward.
