Job Description
The Section of Thoracic Surgery at Medical University of South Carolina is seeking motivated applicants for an academic thoracic surgeon position. Eligible candidates must have completed a residency training program in Thoracic Surgery. Credentials should include board certification/eligibility in Thoracic Surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, and be eligible for a South Carolina Medical License.
The practice encompasses all aspects of non-cardiac thoracic surgery including, but not limited to: lung and esophageal cancer, mediastinal pathology, chest wall reconstruction, benign esophageal disease, mesothelioma/pleural diseases, and lung transplantation. The successful candidate should possess clinical skills in minimally invasive surgery and be committed to excellence in patient care, quality and safety, and educating the next generation of thoracic surgeons in our integrated thoracic surgery residency program. The surgical group practices in a comprehensive, fully integrated, healthcare delivery system that includes the University hospital in Charleston, South Carolina, the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston, South Carolina, and monthly outreach clinics in Murrell’s Inlet and Beaufort, South Carolina.
Appointment as an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor of Surgery at Medical University of South Carolina will be commensurate with experience, training and teaching activities.
