Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required.
  • Three years of experience in journalism or equivalent are required.
  • Strong general knowledge is required.
  • Strong understanding of environmental and weather-related factors, including the impact of climate change and local initiatives, is required.
  • Mastery of media-specific communication techniques for digital video, television, and radio is required.
  • Strong ability to simplify and communicate complex information effectively is required.
  • Proficiency in French is required.
  • A high level of comfort and skill in conducting interviews is required.
  • Candidates must complete editorial tests in French and writing, as well as an interview, if shortlisted.
  • Candidates who advance in the recruitment process must complete a mandatory criminal record check.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor current events in the program’s coverage areas and develop and maintain relationships with various sources.
  • Participate in production meetings and propose story ideas and guests.
  • Research, gather, assess, and verify relevant information related to assigned topics.
  • Propose editorial angles and formats for contributions, including scripts, clips, interviews, and reports.
  • Select interviewees as needed and conduct interviews; direct filming on location when required and carry out recordings for radio.
  • Review and listen to interviews, select appropriate excerpts, and choose music and sound effects when required.
  • Prepare content adapted to the medium and program format, including scripts, reports, and interviews.
  • Prepare an editing plan and oversee editing when required; perform basic editing for radio.
  • Write presentation briefs for the host covering the topic, guest, editorial approach, and background notes.
  • Present and comment on stories on air and participate in on-air discussions led by the host.
  • Collaborate on news programming when required.
  • Drive a reporting vehicle when necessary.
  • Perform other related duties required to carry out the responsibilities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Very good knowledge of English is an asset.
