Requirements
  • Three years of related experience with a DEC III credential.
  • Ability to interpret and judge the validity of academic records using predetermined criteria.
  • Ability to remain current on changes in educational systems and credentials.
  • Effective organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure while providing admission services to current and prospective students.
  • Resourcefulness, integrity, discretion, compassion, and professionalism in handling sensitive information and making decisions.
  • Effective use of Slate, Banner, Minerva, and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Authorization to work in Canada and willingness to work in Quebec at the assigned campus.
  • English communication skills, verbally and in writing, at the level required for the position.
Responsibilities
  • Review assigned undergraduate and graduate applications and determine admission eligibility according to established guidelines, procedures, and admission requirements.
  • Remain attentive to enrollment capacity for high-demand programs and enrollment objectives for lower-demand programs.
  • Assess applicant eligibility using multiple information sources and reference sources, follow up on missing documentation, and consult senior staff on complex, borderline, or extenuating-circumstances applications.
  • Determine eligibility for entrance scholarships and refer eligible applicants to the Scholarships Office.
  • Compare official final grades with unofficial interim grades to identify significant unexplained changes in academic performance or potential evidence of fraud.
  • Participate in student recruitment through CEGEP and high-school visits and Open House events.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential inquiries and conversations discreetly.
  • Prepare application status reports to support responses to inquiries from senior University administration.
  • Communicate accurately and tactfully with prospective students, applicants, parents, guidance counsellors, and other stakeholders about admission standards, application procedures, and related inquiries.
  • Foster effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, identify needs, and support service delivery.
  • Collaborate with other units within Enrolment Services.
  • Provide daily organizational and operational support to the Director and the Unit.

The McGill Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship helps people at McGill turn ideas into startups by providing education, mentorship, and practical startup frameworks. It runs programs that take ventures from ideation to fundraising, including the Lean Startup programs, Dobson Bootcamp and Cup, the X-1 Accelerator, and international fundraising tours, with tracks for Life Sciences, Sustainability, and women founders. The Centre draws on university resources and philanthropic support to offer funding readiness, mentorship networks, and access to experienced entrepreneurs and investors, all within a campus-based ecosystem. Its goal is to discover, educate, and cultivate world‑class entrepreneurs and to help them build purposeful companies that contribute to the local and global innovation ecosystem.

Club M&A and McGill's Dobson Centre launch acquisition programme as $218B in Canadian businesses set for ownership transition

Club M&A Canada and McGill's Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship have opened registration for their first Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition programme. The intensive four-day course, running 27–30 October in Montreal, targets professionals and aspiring entrepreneurs interested in acquiring existing small or medium-sized businesses. The programme addresses a significant succession challenge in Canada. According to the Business Development Bank of Canada, nearly one in five Canadian businesses will undergo ownership transition within five years, representing over $300 billion in business revenue. Marc Deegan, founder of R33 Ventures, will serve as programme director. The curriculum covers developing investment theses, target evaluation, financial and legal considerations, acquisition financing, and post-acquisition transition. Instructors include transaction professionals, lawyers, tax specialists, investors, and entrepreneurs with acquisition experience. Admission is by application, with no prior M&A experience required.
