Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Nursing required
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred, must obtain within 8 years of hire
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing for the state of Michigan
  • BLS certification required by completion of core orientation
  • Critical care or advanced life support (ALS) as well as other certifications may be required for some Registered Nurses, unit specific
  • Current driver's license in the state of Michigan and proof of insurance required for Beaumont Access Hospital (BAH)
  • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze data from various computer systems and equipment in order to set an appropriate plan of action
  • Must be able to constantly communicate both verbally, in writing and electronically
  • Standards of Practice: collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patients' health or the situation; assesses the patient’s physical and developmental needs; analyzes assessment data to identify appropriate patient needs; documents nursing history and age appropriate physical/emotional needs/strengths for assigned patients; reviews vital signs to assess condition of patient and detect deviations from normal; analyzes assessment data to determine patient problems or issues; confirms problems with patient and family when appropriate; documents the expected outcomes and plan of care related to the problems through use of the clinical pathway and outcome teaching record; identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient; utilizes patient/family input when defining outcomes; coordinates discharge planning for outcomes not achieved utilizing the continuum of care available; develops a plan that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes; incorporates clinical pathways into the plan when appropriate; develops individualized interventions with patient input when appropriate; considers data from other members of the healthcare team when developing the plan of care; implements identified plan; administers prescribed medication and treatment in accordance with approved nursing techniques and policies; utilizes evidence-based interventions specific to the patients plan; maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of the patient; initiates a patient education plan; manages the care plan for patients by organizing and delegation patient care interventions to be implemented; evaluates the effectiveness of care given by self and others; evaluates progress toward attainment of the expected outcomes; documents the patient response toward the expected outcomes; participates in quality improvement activities; maintains professional records; participates in ongoing educational activities; demonstrates ethical practice; serves as a patient advocate; integrates ethical provisions; collaborates with patient, family, and others; integrates research finding into practice; considers safety, effectiveness, cost and impact on practice; provides leadership in professional practice setting; participates in nursing councils and committees; attends at least 50% of unit staff meetings; works to create and maintain professional environment; and responsibilities related to Scrub Registered Nurse: interprets procedure card, assess case cart, anticipates physicians' needs, observe patient's condition changes, maintains case information, proper use of equipment, etc.; on-call rotation; for HDU on-call requirements; for Bronson Lakeview and Bronson South Haven: Word day CBL swing beds.
