Senior Fullstack Engineer

Job Summary

The Full Stack Senior Engineer at Mico will take complete ownership of the architecture, code, and technical direction of Mico's products, encompassing backend, frontend, and infrastructure that power MicoCloud. This role demands the ability to independently manage projects from specification through to production release, and make informed technical decisions that are sustainable in the medium to long term. The ideal candidate will possess significant engineering experience and demonstrate the capability to manage substantial technical responsibilities. Beyond coding, this role entails clarifying ambiguous requirements, understanding user and business problems, and proactively addressing core issues rather than merely fulfilling stated requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the architecture of front-end and back-end systems, balancing performance, scalability, security, operations, reliability, fault tolerance, and cost with an eye on medium- to long-term business strategy.
• Design, implement, mentor on, and review production backend code using TypeScript, NestJS, and an ORM, maintaining high code quality standards.
• Design front-end code using TypeScript and React, and implement production code and automated tests.
• Design, implement, and optimize databases, developing efficient database control (SQL, etc.) that balances load, performance, and flexibility.
• Design and improve architecture and operations on AWS, building systems that scale to handle large data volumes and high traffic.
• Provide technical guidance to team members, support problem-solving, and determine the technical direction of projects.
• Identify code-quality issues and technical debt in your area of ownership, propose and implement improvements, escalating when a concern should take priority over the delivery timeline.
• Use AI coding tools to enhance design, implementation, testing, review, and documentation while owning the correctness, security, and maintainability of everything that ships.
• Work within the team's established development process (Scrum/Kanban), monitor project progress against schedule, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure delivery meets requirements.
• Identify team- and system-level friction and drive improvements, contributing to shared engineering standards and practices.
• Create and maintain documentation for system design, architecture, and code.

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years of working experience in system development or equivalent, including 2+ years as a senior-level engineer leading development through technical decision-making.
• Ability to complete the entire cycle from specification development to release independently, with technical skills for verification (e.g., prototyping).
• Proficient in implementing code with high quality, and testing code to improve quality.
• Capable of designing and building comprehensive architectures that account for performance, scalability, security, operations, and cost.
• Strong hands-on experience with TypeScript and NestJS on the backend, and TypeScript and React on the frontend.
• Experience in designing and operating on AWS.
• Applies software design principles (e.g., SOLID) to produce maintainable, extensible code.
• Effective use of AI engineering tools with a focus on clear prompting, the right context, and critically reviewing AI output.
• Awareness of AI failure modes, with discipline to verify, test, and take full ownership of AI-generated work.
