Requirements
  • Completion of technical school with a CAD design certificate, associate degree, or equivalent experience in a Civil Engineering field is desired.
  • Seven or more years of experience in civil engineering drafting for land development projects is required.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, including corridor development and grading-surface design, is required.
  • Strong understanding and ability to apply grading, drainage, and utility design practices are required.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD 3D is required.
  • Ability to prepare schematic, design development, and final construction drawings is required.
  • Ability to model for roadway design is required.
  • Ability to perform earthwork calculations through surface comparisons is required.
Responsibilities
  • Identify opportunities to improve CAD workflows, tools, and efficiency.
  • Maintain CAD standards, drawing organization, and project file management from project setup through completion.
  • Communicate with drafting, engineering, and construction team members.
  • Prepare schematic, design development, and final construction drawings as required.
  • Build and manipulate 3D surface models in AutoCAD, apply corridor modeling for road design, and perform earthwork calculations through surface comparisons.
  • Apply agency regulations to design projects according to requirements and standards, and assist junior CAD staff with the same.
  • Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to prepare grading designs and plans, street plans and profiles for curb-and-gutter and open-ditch designs using corridors, drainage-area maps, and storm sewer, water, and sanitary sewer plans and profiles.
  • Produce construction drawings, exhibits, one-line drawings, cost estimates, and concept plans for commercial and residential developments, municipal infrastructure, and plant projects.
  • Review and mark up existing PDF documents using Bluebeam to track markup completion.
  • Work independently with minimal direction while engaging the lead engineer to resolve design elements and keep projects on schedule, within agency regulations, and constructable.
  • Support multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with Bluebeam is preferred.
  • Experience developing and maintaining CAD standards and templates is preferred.
  • Prior experience mentoring junior CAD staff is preferred.
