Reporting to the VP of Tax, the Tax Manager will assist in managing all tax matters for this NYSE-listed financial services firm, including accounting for income taxes and disclosure, income tax compliance and tax planning. The Tax Manager will support internal business and finance colleagues as well as external service providers to execute upon their responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of the US GAAP tax provision and related footnotes in the Company’s 10-Ks and 10-Qs, including AETR management and analysis
- Support and partner with the VP of Tax on all aspects of federal, state, and local income tax compliance activities, including the preparation, review and filing of tax returns and assisting with management of the audits of federal and state income taxes and state and local filings
- Work collaboratively with the VP of Tax to provide technical support for tax planning initiatives, and analyze the tax implications of company decisions or new lines of business
- Monitor changes in US federal and state law that could impact the company
- Update, maintain, and enhance formal tax policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley
- Coordinate with external tax advisors to support provision, compliance, and planning initiatives
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to deliver outstanding customer service
- Managing and training tax staff
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field; Master’s in Tax and CPA preferred
- 5+ years of corporate tax experience, including experience with income tax accounting (ASC 740 and FIN 48)
- Prior public company experience and/or public accounting firm (i.e., Big 4) preferred
