Requirements
  • Education: Doctor of Optometry Degree (OD) from an Accredited School of Optometry, board eligible or board certified in Optometry
  • Licensed in the State of Kansas or eligible for licensure in Kansas
Responsibilities
  • Provide services as an Optometrist, comprising of comprehensive clinics for all ages
  • Participate in the didactic teaching program including supervising medical students and residents
  • Participate in JayDoc clinics
  • Maintain a professional and courteous relationship with patients as monitored by the hospital's patient experience survey
  • Serve on departmental committees and provide other service to the School of Medicine and the University as needed
  • Participate in clinical research and scientific presentations at national/regional meetings as appropriate with academic track
  • Provide clinical and surgical services to the VA and/or other sites under Professional Services Agreement with The University of Kansas Health System
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with fitting and care coordination of medically necessary contact lenses
  • Managing post-operative care for specialty surgeons as needed
  • Experience with academic background involving teaching with interest in clinical or basic research is preferred
  • Experience in growing own research programs with the ability to obtain funding from public and private sources is desired
  • Strong organizational skills, coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously, and manage competing and shifting priorities
