You will confirm that installation drawings for electronic systems are designed correctly in accordance with their vendor design requirements. You will be investigate any discrepancies and reporting design conflicts needing resolved between the vendor requirements and the installation drawings. This is a technical administrative quality control position and not a design position. However, previous design experience should prove helpful in the execution of responsible duties.
Essential responsibilities and experience needed:
Technical reviews of the integration of networks and shipboard communication cables, blown optical fiber, and other electric systems in accordance with vendor design requirements.
The ability to read and clearly understand technical design specifications, vendor electronic design requirements, and high-level network diagrams.
The ability to read and clearly understand cable and fiber installation drawings, Wiring Tables, and Cable Diagrams.
The ability to compare vendor requirements to the installation drawings, and accurately research, identify, and confirm cable connectors, backshells, and signal paths.
The ability to follow instructions, work independently and effectively, and clearly document and communicate your progress to leadership.
Minimum Requirements
Four (4) years practical experience with High School Diploma or equivalent combination of practical experience/education. Practical experience must be in the following areas: Working to military standards and specifications; Working to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); Performing work associated with the installation of shipboard signal/data cables; Knowledge of the USN shipbuilding modernization and configuration control processes.
Must have an Active Secret US Government clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to maintain a Secret clearance. Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret US Government clearance.
Vocational/Technical school or OJT with a focus on electronic cable and/or fiber optic design.
Ability to read and clearly understand technical data related to the design of shipboard electronic systems.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability articulate problems clearly and unambiguously in order to adjudicate discrepancies.
Excellent organizational skills.
Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
Excellent technical writing skills.
A Proficient command of the Microsoft suite of applications.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Database development or management.
Active DoD Top Secret US government security clearance.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree.
Experience with SWFTS and/or C4I electronic subsystems is highly preferred.
Experience designing the installation of shipboard electronic and/or fiber optic cabling.
Submarine Planning Yard experience, or experience with another activity which coordinated closely with a Submarine Planning Yard.
Working with Government Furnished Information, Ship Alterations, Engineering Change Instructions, and other associated modernization instructions.
Project Management experience.
Experience working in new organizations and building new infrastructure, tools, and standard operating procedures.
