Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • A valid state driver's license with minimal driving infractions or incidents is required.
  • The candidate must successfully pass a drug screening, motor vehicle record review, criminal background check, and Department of Transportation physical examination before employment and on an ongoing basis.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively and professionally are required.
  • The candidate must be able to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
  • The candidate must be comfortable using GPS, mobile technology, tablets, and electronic applications.
  • The candidate must be able to lift and move items weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • The candidate must be able to read and interpret roadside service procedures and member benefits.
  • Basic math and recordkeeping skills are required.
  • The candidate must successfully complete AAA training programs.
  • A commitment to safety and teamwork is required.
  • If employed in Illinois, the candidate must possess a valid Illinois C-Non-CDL driver's license.
  • The candidate must maintain Department of Transportation certification and an acceptable driving record.
Responsibilities
  • Respond to roadside assistance requests from AAA members using a tow truck or service vehicle.
  • Provide emergency roadside services, including tire changes, fuel delivery, battery testing and installation, jump starts, lockout assistance, and minor mechanical adjustments.
  • Safely tow disabled vehicles following established procedures and towing guidelines.
  • Verify AAA membership and deliver customer service during every interaction.
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip Department of Transportation inspections and report vehicle maintenance concerns.
  • Maintain a clean and professional service vehicle.
  • Use tablets and electronic devices to manage calls, update service requests, and access towing procedures.
  • Accurately document daily activities, service calls, vehicle logs, and receipts.
  • Achieve goals related to member satisfaction, safety, productivity, and battery services.
  • Support community and special AAA events as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience providing roadside assistance services such as battery testing, jump starts, lockout assistance, fuel delivery, or tire changes.
  • Previous tow truck driving experience.
  • Experience operating wheel-lift, flatbed, or dolly towing equipment.
  • Commercial driving experience.
  • Automotive knowledge or mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
