iMentor connects first-generation college students with college-educated mentors to help them succeed in higher education and career planning. The organization matches high school students with mentors who provide guidance and support, addressing the unique challenges faced by students who are often the first in their families to attend college. iMentor operates primarily in New York City and Chicago, and its model relies on partnerships with high schools, donations, and grants to fund its programs. Unlike many other educational support organizations, iMentor specifically targets first-generation college students, achieving a higher college enrollment rate among its participants compared to national averages. The goal of iMentor is to bridge the opportunity gap for these students by providing the resources and personal support they need to navigate their educational journeys.
