iMentor connects first-generation college students with college-educated mentors to help them succeed in higher education and career planning. The organization matches high school students with mentors who provide guidance and support, addressing the unique challenges faced by students who are often the first in their families to attend college. iMentor operates primarily in New York City and Chicago, and its programs have shown success, with 74% of its students enrolling in college compared to 54% of similar students nationally. Unlike many other educational support organizations, iMentor focuses specifically on mentorship for underserved communities and relies on donations, grants, and corporate partnerships to fund its programs. The goal of iMentor is to bridge the opportunity gap for these students, ensuring they have the resources and personal support needed to navigate their educational journeys.
