Purpose:
The New Markets Business Analyst interacts with customers, industry experts and VEGA Sales members to solicit information and data, which they will analyze and process to help VEGA plan successful product and sales strategies. This is done both in-person at customer sites, by phone and at industry events, trade shows, etc.
The New Markets Business Analyst will reach out to existing and prospective customers to learn about and study customer preferences, business problems/conditions, competition, and other factors to assess potential sales of a product or service. The New Markets Analyst participates on a global team of analysts to assist leadership in understanding what markets want, who will buy, and at what price.
Data collected includes sales statistics, industry studies/trends, pricing policies, customer demographics, distribution channels, points of sale, market share, etc. The New Markets Analyst will also conduct direct customer research utilizing field interviews, surveys, questionnaires, and focus groups to understand and assess preferences, needs and buying behavior.
This position reports to a Cincinnati based Executive, but takes direction from the Product Management Team Lead and Department Lead in Germany.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitor current local market trends and develop appropriate strategies
Conduct in-person customer visits to collect voice of customer information about instrumentation
Research existing and emerging markets to identify opportunities
Research competitors and evaluate the effectiveness of their strategies
Draw up a local business plan
Collaborate with the PM teams at the headquarter in Schiltach, Germany
Actively participate in national trade and industry bodies
Experience in product management, business development or strategic marketing
Must be able to travel, Domestic and International, up to 50%
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor degree in Economics, Business Administration or equivalent AND up to 5 years related experience and/or
training;
OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with instrumentation, automation or heavy industries.
