Responsible for providing financial oversight and strategic planning guidance for manufacturing assets and controlling oversight over supply chain activities globally. With a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Global Manufacturing Director, this role ensures strong adherence to the Global Supply Chain Finance control environment, with a particular focus on visibility into product costing, and fulfilling both internal and shareholder reporting requirements. Additionally, this position involves continuous monitoring and analysis of financial performance, identification of cost-saving opportunities, and implementation of best practices in financial management to support the company’s strategic objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Act as a Business Partner and Strategic Thought Partner: Collaborate closely with the Global Manufacturing Director to drive strategic initiatives.
- Partner with Sourcing, Regulatory, Commercial & Manufacturing Teams: Coordinate capital planning processes and manage project-level approval governance.
- Facilitate Strategic Investment Trade-off Discussions: Focus on manufacturing assets and serve as the process owner for critical production metrics.
- Manage the Cost Accounting Group: Drive continuous improvement and standardization within the cost accounting function.
- Supervise Standard Cost Elements: Ensure all standard cost elements, including bill of materials, production routings, labor, and overhead, are logically determined.
- Oversee Annual Cost Roll: Conducted at fiscal year-end by the cost accounting team, ensure inventory valuation is accurately booked in the system.
- Assess Standard Costs: Ensure all discrepancies between standard and actual costs are adjusted as needed and determine when standard costs require adjustments, implementing necessary changes.
- Oversee Annual Inventory Physical Count: Ensure the accurate execution and reporting of the annual inventory physical count.
- Report on Slow-Moving Inventory: Supervise the reporting of slow-moving inventory and its financial impact.
- Maintain Integrity of General Ledger Accounts: Oversee account reconciliations related to cost and inventory to ensure general ledger accuracy.
- Review Financial Information for External Auditors: Provide necessary financial information and schedules to external auditors during the annual financial audit.
- Ensure a Strong Control Environment: Control and track the resolution of all control deficiencies and audit comments.
- Lead and Coordinate Audit Activities Related to Inventories and COGS: Ensure a smooth and efficient audit process by preparing audit schedules, liaising with auditors, and addressing inquiries.
- Define Costing System Methodology: Set up costing systems for existing and new entities to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Conduct Financial Analysis related to COGS: Provide in-depth financial analysis to support strategic decisions and operational efficiency.
- Develop and Implement Cost Control Strategies: Formulate strategies to control and reduce costs while maintaining quality and efficiency.
- Collaborate on Budgeting and Forecasting: Work with various departments to develop accurate budgets and forecasts that align with strategic goals.
- Train and Mentor Team Members: Provide guidance and professional development opportunities to the cost accounting team to build expertise and promote career growth.
- Monitor Industry Trends: Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and strategic alignment.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Master’s degree (Accountancy or MBA) and/or CPA preferred
- Proven experience in accounting practices.
- Proven Experience in Manufacturing Cost Accounting (Standard Cost preferred).
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experienced with Microsoft Office programs, especially Microsoft Excel.
- Familiar with electronic accounting systems, preferably JD Edwards Enterprise One.
