Requirements
  • At least two years of experience in the food service industry.
  • ServSafe certification, or the ability to successfully obtain certification.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to multitask in a high-volume, customer-oriented, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to process and prioritize information received from a variety of sources.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow recipes.
  • Willingness to work with all products and ingredients.
  • Ability to exhibit good self-management skills and ensure quality output with minimal supervision.

  • Attention to the details of daily kitchen operations, including traffic flow and team needs.
  • Knowledge of hot and cold food preparation, including appetizers, salad items, entrees, and desserts.

  • Knowledge of math to determine serving sizes and estimate quantities of food to prepare.

Responsibilities
  • Work mornings and afternoons for day-to-day operations, and evenings and weekends for special functions.
  • Assist in food preparation for daily cafe operations while ensuring variety, quality, and safe handling of ingredients.
  • Ensure food production amounts are met with minimal waste.
  • Organize and set up workstation and service-line areas.
  • Apply portion-size knowledge and plate-presentation standards.
  • Serve customers in a timely and appropriately friendly manner to ensure a positive cafe experience.
  • Attend pre-shift meetings with the Chef and back-of-house staff when requested.
  • Assist with food delivery check-in and storage.
  • Practice safe cleanliness and sanitation.
  • Operate the point-of-sale system.
  • Perform short-order grill cooking, including the full scope of breakfast and lunch.
  • Assist staff by sharing knowledge of recipes, preparation, equipment, and procedures.
  • Prepare a variety of food items for special functions, including appetizers, entrees, salads, and desserts, as directed by the Chef and requested on the banquet event order.
  • Attend pre-event meetings with the Chef and catering staff when requested.
  • Assist with food presentation and displays.
  • Complete closing responsibilities, including proper food storage, cleaning, and sanitizing.
Desired Qualifications
  • ServSafe certification is preferred.
