Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience performing inspection of Cal-Trans bridge, roadway, and structure projects.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in public works field inspection, with a focus on heavy civil and roadway construction (10 years preferred).
  • Proven expertise in the installation and inspection of sewer and storm drain systems, utility infrastructure, and traffic control measures.
  • Strong working knowledge of City of Los Angeles, County of Los Angeles and Cal-Trans Standards.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • High school diploma (or equivalent).
  • Proof of Cal-OSHA 30-hour training within the last four years prior to official start.
Responsibilities
  • Perform inspection of major reinforced concrete structures including pile foundations, roadways, and bridges across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Conduct inspections for the installation of sanitary sewer systems and storm drains, including related structures, in accordance with City and County of Los Angeles Standards.
  • Perform inspections for the installation of street lighting and traffic signal systems, following the specifications set by the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Street Lighting and the Los Angeles Department of Transportation.
  • Apply extensive knowledge of City of Los Angeles Standard Plans/Specifications and the Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction (Greenbook).
  • Apply extensive knowledge of Cal-Trans construction Standard Plans and Specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with multi-phased, site-specific traffic control plans, with a strong emphasis on pedestrian safety and routing.
  • Apply knowledge of and enforce Cal-OSHA, Contractor’s and Los Angeles World Airports safety requirements.
  • Prepare comprehensive daily inspection reports that clearly and concisely documents observed construction activities and identifies issues, deficiencies, and safety concerns in a timely manner.
  • Assist in reviewing and approving Contractor’s monthly progress payment request based on work completed and approved schedule of values.
  • Collaborate professionally within a large team of Inspectors.
  • May assume other duties as required/needed
  • May be required to work various shifts including overtime, swing, nights, and weekend shifts as needed
Desired Qualifications
  • Current Cal-Trans test method certifications in 100, 200, 300, and 500 series.
  • Current City of Los Angeles Deputy Inspector Licenses; Grading, Concrete, Post Tension.
