The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for providing primary care medical services to Westminster residents in the healthcare center or Assisted Living, as well as the Wellness Clinic.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Take proactive approach to healthcare by providing quality of care to all patients.
- Provide direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses and treatment.
- Order diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, CT/MRI, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interpret test results for deviation from normal.
- Perform therapeutic procedures such as I&D, splinting, suturing, managing infection, injections, compression wrapping, and wound care.
- Document findings and treatment course in patient chart including follow-up notes.
- Instruct and counsel patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens. Communicate with patients regarding testing results, follow-up care, and additional information.
- Communicate with other Wellness Clinic NP’s and/or Resident Health Services Director regarding resident health and wellness concerns or issues.
- Maintains or improves independence through directing, educating, and orienting residents in the use of appropriate adaptive equipment or techniques. Recommends home assessments to improve safety at home.
- Prepares and maintains required reports, records, studies and surveys.
- Serves as a resource person for residents and assures that all necessary forms are prepared and informational pamphlets are distributed.
- Assists with flu shot clinics for residents and/or associates when needed.
- Work as part of the overall team by answering the phone, completing referrals, patient callbacks and other activities as requested.
- Be available and actively engage in support of community needs in times of emergency situations and perform other duties as assigned.
Education:
Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing; must have a current license to practice as an APRN in the State of Texas.
Experience:
Should have at least three years of experience in geriatrics as Nurse Practitioner.
