- Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing
- Must have a current license to practice as an APRN in the State of Texas
- Should have at least three years of experience in geriatrics as Nurse Practitioner
- Provide direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses and treatment
- Order diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, CT/MRI, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interpret test results for deviation from normal
- Perform therapeutic procedures such as I&D, splinting, suturing, managing infection, injections, compression wrapping, and wound care
- Document findings and treatment course in patient chart including follow-up notes
- Instruct and counsel patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens
- Communicate with patients regarding testing results, follow-up care, and additional information
- Communicate with other Wellness Clinic NP’s and/or Resident Health Services Director regarding resident health and wellness concerns or issues
- Maintains or improves independence through directing, educating, and orienting residents in the use of appropriate adaptive equipment or techniques
- Recommends home assessments to improve safety at home
- Prepares and maintains required reports, records, studies and surveys
- Serves as a resource person for residents and assures that all necessary forms are prepared and informational pamphlets are distributed
- Assists with flu shot clinics for residents and/or associates when needed
- Work as part of the overall team by answering the phone, completing referrals, patient callbacks and other activities as requested
- Be available and actively engage in support of community needs in times of emergency situations and perform other duties as assigned
