Requirements
  • At least 6 months of front-desk receptionist experience, preferably in the healthcare industry.
  • Must be willing to cross-train in medical assistant responsibilities to support full-cycle clinic operations.
  • Must have basic knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Must possess strong customer service skills.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively to exchange information.
  • Must be able to maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
  • Must be able to react calmly and effectively in difficult or emergent situations.
  • Must have manual dexterity to operate a computer and keyboard at 50 words per minute, calculator, telephone, copier, and fax.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle to travel between clinics.
Responsibilities
  • Greet, welcome, and direct patients and visitors appropriately.
  • Contact insurance providers to obtain computed tomography authorizations.
  • Collect patient payments for outstanding balances and current appointments.
  • Answer incoming phone calls and provide accurate information and resources.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments through the scheduling software.
  • Accurately record patient health, insurance, demographic, referral, contact, and primary-care-provider information in the electronic health record system.
  • Use the electronic health record practice-management platform.
  • Prepare and organize patient paperwork for upcoming appointments.
  • Scan and attach patient records and documents to patient charts.
  • Monitor incoming pharmacy shipments and prepare them for patient pickup.
  • Check and process incoming mail.
  • Ensure end-of-day reports and logs are accurate and complete.
  • Stock the front desk, waiting room, and break room with necessary supplies.
  • Schedule drug-representative lunches when approved by the provider.
  • Request medical records from outside providers.
  • Coordinate allergen vial transfers.
  • Administer allergy injections.
  • Take patient vital signs.
  • Room patients.
  • Review medical-assistant testing boards to ensure allergen accuracy.
Desired Qualifications
  • A medical assistant background is highly preferred.
  • Flexibility to travel within the assigned region.
  • Medical Assistant Certificate or vocational nurse license.
  • Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification.
