Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in A/P and/or accounting roles
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- Strong accounting skills
- Working knowledge and understanding of financial reporting under ASPE and/or IFRS
- Strong knowledge of accounting/finance processes including month-end close, variance analysis, and reconciliations
- Experience working in a multi-currency environment
- Strong proficiency with Excel formulas and functions
- Experience with MS Office and accounting software
- Problem-solver who identifies process deficiencies and finds solutions
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize effectively
- Open and flexible to changes as the organization is growing and daily tasks may vary accordingly

Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee a team of accountants - providing guidance and support to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures while maintaining data accuracy and completeness
- Oversee junior accountants in booking journal entries, account for nonrecurring events, and coach them as they take on more complex tasks such as month-end adjustments and reconciliations
- Develop and implement procedures to ensure both accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices
- Provide insight and assist in implementing additional internal controls and processes
- Develop and maintain standardized working paper templates to improve the flow of information while ensuring consistency, accuracy, and completeness in financial reporting
- Identify possible weaknesses and support implementation of systems/processes to close any process gaps in conjunction with the financial policies of the company and ASPE
- Own the AP and OPEX reporting process, including review of accounting policies and month-end close
- Perform annual, monthly, and quarterly trend, ratio, aged payables analyses, as well as month-over-month variance analyses of AP and related operating expenses
- Prepare month-end reconciliations for assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts, researching issues and resolving discrepancies
- Own monthly close reporting for AP and OPEX accounting and drive any ad-hoc reporting requests
- Review and approve invoices for payment, ensuring proper coding and documentation
- Work with cross-functional teams to resolve issues related to vendor invoices and payments
- Prepare and analyze AP and OPEX reports to identify trends and opportunities for process improvements
- Participate in projects that improve the accounting close cycle and/or support business decision making
- Provide external audit support during year-end close
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with ERP systems (Dynamics 365) or other cloud-based accounting software
- Experience with Google G-Suite products
- Working towards a CPA designation or other designations
