Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least four (4) years experience working with college students
  • At least three (3) years of experience coordinating or administering a program
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Responsibilities
  • Support degree certification for the College including co-managing a degree certification email account, coordinating and processing in absentia graduation applications, following up with ceremony participants who haven’t graduated, processing and troubleshooting web applications, and ensuring multiple majors are accurately awarded.
  • Support administrative components of academic warning and dismissal processes. Identify, track, and support students facing academic difficulty. Lead College outreach efforts to students facing difficulty including those identified by Student Outreach Services, Title IX, absence/failure and grade reports. Process non-academic drops as recommended by units with the Office of the Dean of Students.
  • Review students’ coursework and determine degree applicability and eligibility for veteran educational benefits and student athletes each semester.
  • Advise undergraduate students during peak periods and provide support to student facing general email accounts as necessary. Make course list updates, complete advanced overrides, and support degree audit coding when needed.
  • Work with staff in Academic Affairs and across Student Affairs to produce accurate, usable, visual advising aids for the better understanding of degree requirements for each COLA major. Review final documents for accuracy against catalog and IDA coded requirements.
  • Attend Student Affairs events to include Commencement, Gone to Texas, Explore UT, Honor's Day, LEAD. Participate in professional development and/or mentoring opportunities with student groups. Contribute to the Student Affairs culture by helping to promote and push forward new strategies and initiatives. Other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Additional experience beyond the required or extensive experience in advising, group work, assessment, and administration of college students' academic programs.
  • Ability to relate well with college students, staff, and faculty.
  • Experience at UT Austin or another large university.
  • Experience with First Year Interest Group (FIG)/Transfer Interest Group (TRIG) programs.
  • Personal computer experience in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
