Requirements
  • Secret (S) access to perform Access Control tasks and monitor the Defense Information System for Security (DISS); access required to support multiple Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF)
  • Ability to maintain an Access Control program for CBRN Medical at two locations: on base and satellite location or Standalone Facility (SAF) including processing visitors and conducting 100% ID checks to ensure only authorized persons with valid identification enter
  • Willingness and ability to travel to support Government project leads as needed
  • Complete/perform Personnel Security (PERSEC) tasks within the Defense Information System for Security (DISS)
  • Completion or possession of required security and safety related training and certifications listed under Qualifications (see below)
  • Experience or ability to work with DoD security policies and procedures, and to ensure compliance with ITAR/EAR and related regulations (as indicated by the role responsibilities and international agreements reviews)
  • Strong knowledge of security operations, access control, and emergency action planning within a government or cleared facility environment
  • Familiarity with official DoD forms and security documentation (e.g., DA Form 1999, DD2875, APACS accounts) and basic incident command system concepts
Responsibilities
  • Conduct building sweeps in restricted and non‑restricted areas, perform RAM inspections on a required schedule (random, daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly) and identify potentially prohibited items; check status of non‑classified areas within Standalone Facility and base
  • Manage secure locations such as SIPRNET rooms; maintain access rosters and assist employees with SIPRNET access; maintain DA Form 1999 “Restricted Area Visitor Register”
  • Organize and manage secure safes and periodically change combinations for SIPRNET rooms and safes when required
  • Develop and propose improvements to overall security operations in collaboration with CBRN Medical Leadership; provide brief summaries of events affecting daily operations
  • Perform PERSEC tasks within DISS and support Start/End of Day procedures; report potential findings to Operations Director
  • Create an APACS account; process and direct travel requests for CBRN Medical personnel traveling on official foreign travel orders; review theater and country‑specific information in the DoD Electronic Foreign Clearance Guide
  • Support classified meetings by setting up and taking down rooms in accordance with security protocols; ensure devices are collected and sign‑in sheets are used; provide general announcements before meetings
  • Plan, organize, direct, and lead emergency response programs for CBRN Medical; participate as SME in emergency response, chemical/biological/radiological and nuclear operations, and emergency management
  • Support development of emergency guidance and required training for CBRN Medical personnel; assist with Combating Terrorism program and installation operational security program
  • Maintain CCTV surveillance at CBRN Medical buildings; manage keys for one of the CBRN Medical buildings; attend Fort Detrick Installation Protection Executive Committee and other security meetings
  • Work within CBRN Medical core hours; assist with Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs) for security roles, violations, destruction procedures, and other security subjects
  • Assist with clearance upgrades for personnel requiring access to critical-sensitive or special-sensitive information; conduct initial inspection for a Controlled Access Area (CAA) activation; ensure Army NETCOM Form 390‑5‑8 requirements are met
  • Administer the CBRN Medical Security In‑Processing Brief and ensure personnel understand DoD security policies; assist with Emergency Action Plan for SIPRNET and potential SIPR areas
  • Serve as Antiterrorism Officer for CBRN Medical and a point of contact for all security topics or incidents; participate in CCRI or SIPRNET area inspections
  • Review and approve the security components of all DD2875 System Authorization Access Requests for CBRN Medical personnel; assist with in‑ and out‑processing of civilian, military, and contractor personnel
  • Conduct SIPRNET walkthroughs/training for new personnel or remedial training; receive debriefs at the Secret level on biannual threat briefs and assist with course‑of‑action development
  • Maintain the organization’s Continuity of Operations program to ensure mission-essential functions continue during disruptions
  • Serve as a point of contact for security management of international cooperative agreements; review, analyze, and advise on international MOUs, MOAs, CRADAs, and Project Agreements against regulations to identify risks; provide recommendations to leadership
