  • Ph.D. in industrial and systems engineering, materials science engineering, or related areas
  • Expertise in both manufacturing methods and artificial intelligence
  • Demonstrated record in securing competitive peer-reviewed research funding
  • Strong record of publications in peer reviewed conference and Journals
  • Service on editorial boards, conference committees, and policy-making panels and boards
  • Experience teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels or demonstrated potential to be able to achieve excellent teaching
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required, with a focus on working constructively, decisively, and collegially with both external and internal colleagues and interdisciplinary teams
  • The candidate should possess advanced mentoring skills
Responsibilities
  • Obtain funding and perform research related to advanced manufacturing, materials and forming processes, damage and failure analysis, process simulation, dynamic behavior of materials, and mathematical modeling of manufacturing processes
  • Development and application of machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) tools to optimize/automate manufacturing processes
  • Hold a joint appointment in the Materials Science and Engineering Department and work with HAMMER Engineering Research Center director
  • Teach at undergraduate and graduate levels in Industrial and Systems Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering; develop an educational program combining AI to improve and control manufacturing processes, including automotive related industries
  • Demonstrate ability to secure funding to support research program
  • Interact with other researchers and university leaders
  • Support department functions through departmental, college and university service
