  • Experience: One year certificate from college or technical school plus three to five years' experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Certificate of completion for technical training courses in basic electrical, motor controls and electrical distribution systems highly preferred
  • Physical and Mental Requirements: Must be able to pass mandatory screening including a background check and drug test
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, move and/or carry tools, supplies, and inventory up to 50 pounds
  • Regularly stand, walk and use hands to finger, handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls
  • Frequently reach with hands and arms; climb, or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear
  • Regularly bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms and/or legs
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus

Responsibilities
  • Plans layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local state and city codes
  • May install street lights, intercom systems switchboard, control centers and panels, relays circuit breaker and/or electrical control systems
  • Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, and provide access for future maintenance and sets up secondary distribution centers, balances loads, writes or lays out the wiring of complete circuits with a large number of connections
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components
  • Tests continuity of circuit to electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devises, such as ohmmeters, battery and buzzer, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility, safety of systems, and compliance with codes
  • Uses a variety of tools or equipment, such as oscilloscopes, ammeters, or test lamps etc
  • Measures, cuts, bend, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit. Pulls wiring through conduit
  • Prepares sketches or follow diagrams and/or blueprints to determine the location of wiring or equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, sign test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and corrects the problem
  • Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous and whether discontinued use should be considered immediately by performing repairs all equipment and/or systems
  • Performs general maintenance duties along with the Maintenance staff as well as project cleaning duties as instructed by supervisor
  • Performs clean-up and preservation of all electrical equipment rooms in the facility
  • Ensures that assigned work area is maintained in a safe condition
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager/Supervisor
