Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree/Associate's Degree in Registered Nurse, RN in nursing from an accredited school of nursing
  • Minimum of 1.5 years practicing as a lactation consultant
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state
  • Certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) required within one year
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for healthcare providers or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for professional rescuer and healthcare provider
  • Experience working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent communication skills
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate counseling, equipment, and support of mothers who are breast pumping for their high risk infants or breastfeeding their full-term infants
  • Complete assessments and develop appropriate interventions
  • Assist and teach clients and document consults in EPIC
  • Provide education and preceptor opportunities for various health care professionals including nurses, nursing students, medical students, residents, fellows, and dietitians
  • Participate in lactation related committees
Desired Qualifications
  • BSN preferred
  • Registered Dieticians, Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and Physical Therapists are encouraged to apply
