  • Bachelor’s degree in any field related to Environmental Health and Safety, such as Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Science or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience leading EHS efforts in an industrial manufacturing setting; floor experience is highly desired
  • Fluent in Spanish (ability to provide detailed training)
  • Basic understanding of EHS programs in a manufacturing environment
  • Foundational knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards, Environmental Protection Agency and/or State environmental regulations and regulatory program areas

Responsibilities
  • Promote a site culture with an unconditional stance on safety and environmental compliance under the direction of the site EHS Lead(er)
  • Assist and support with all compliance aspects of Serious Incident or Fatality and critical safety programs along with other health and Environmental processes/programs/procedures to achieve and maintain a zero-injury environment
  • Support identification, elimination, and control of hazardous conditions that may lead to injury, environmental non-compliance, and/or property damage using safety standards, EHS best practices, and analytical techniques along with behavior-based safety programs
  • Engage employees at the assigned location, including the site management team, to develop and sustain a world-class safety and environmental program
  • Provide guidance and coaching in the areas of safety and environmental stewardship to all site employees
  • Establish and execute enterprise EHS standards and provide solutions to safety and environmental compliance challenges as well as hazard Identification
  • Serve as boots on the ground resource at the facility and assist the site EHS Lead(er) with building capability to ensure a sitewide EHS culture
  • Identify and document potential hazards including materials exposure, accidents, near-miss, fires, unsafe conditions, environmental spills and releases or other non-compliance and notify appropriate parties for corrective action
  • Conduct formal risk assessments to identify hazards and develop and implement control measures to mitigate identified risks
  • Regularly review and update risk assessments to reflect changes in operations and maintain compliance with evolving standards
  • Conduct timely and thorough EHS incident investigations including workers’ compensation matters; analyze accidents/incidents to ensure root cause identification and corrective action; notify appropriate parties; document and submit findings
  • Provide support to facility team members with respect to EHS awareness, leading emergency training, evacuation planning, emergency response, policy interpretation, safety audits, environmental inspections, and resource location; ensure 100% completion of training plan and certified competence of all employees trained
  • Execute all required aspects of Critical Safety Foundations and Serious Injury and Fatality programs and support development of other key safety and EHS programs in collaboration with site leadership and Doors Business Unit EHS
  • Assess the facility's environmental compliance with site-specific permits or regulations; develop and implement programs and procedures to maintain compliance
  • Assist in development of innovative solutions and drive sustainability goals through partnership and influence of key stakeholders and team members at the site
  • Responsible for document maintenance and retention for EHS training requirements
  • Assist in environmental recordkeeping and compliance in accordance with federal, state and local ordinance requirements including site specific environmental permits
  • Champion the Safety Committee and act as a resource to sub committees
  • Assist in development, implementation and monitoring of EHS action plans and programs to ensure a high level of safety and environmental awareness within the facility
  • Coach, mentor and re-direct personnel at the site to encourage prioritization and stewardship of EHS goals; reinforce company stand on safety and environmental compliance and recognize employee accomplishments
  • Maintain leadership presence at the site, influence employee and Leadership behaviors, and fully engage employees in the safety process
  • Participate in Kaizen events, 5S, Lean Daily Management, Waste Elimination, Managing for Daily Improvement, Visual Factory, Six Sigma projects and other similar processes
  • Drive and support change management and engagement in EHS related matters and activities within the site
  • Translate safety and health strategies into results
  • Maintain, collaborate and update EHS information (charts, and graphs) and communicate metrics; oversee the site Safety Data Sheet system
  • Drive ergonomics initiatives to reduce musculoskeletal disorders illnesses/injuries
  • Collaborate and implement wellness programs to meet site needs

How a Navy Seabee helped secure a new roof for a Horry County hero. In the Navy, the Seabees have a legendary motto: "Can Do." It's a spirit of ingenuity, hard work, and never leaving a job unfinished. Recently, that "Can Do" spirit was on full display in Horry County, but it wasn't on a military base. It was in the driveway of a Navy veteran and retired police officer who served its community for 30 years. The advocate in the family. The project began when Gregory's son-in-law, Eric, noticed a need. As a Navy Seabee himself and a founder of the Navy Seabee Veterans of America in South Carolina, Eric knows that veterans are often the last people to ask for help. "I feel if we weren't here to advocate for him, he wouldn't have anybody that could do that for him," Eric said while watching the new shingles go up. Owens Corning reports $10.1B revenue with 22% EBITDA margin despite weaker demand and quiet storm season

Owens Corning reported fourth-quarter revenue of $2.1 billion and adjusted EBITDA of $362 million (17% margin), with full-year 2025 revenue of $10.1 billion and EBITDA of $2.3 billion (22% margin). CEO Brian Chambers said the company is "generating higher margins on lower market volumes" despite progressively weaker residential demand. The company faced headwinds from distribution destocking and an unusually quiet storm season, with no major U.S. storms for the first time in a decade. Roofing sales fell 27% year-on-year in the fourth quarter, though the segment maintained healthy margins through curtailments and mix improvements. Owens Corning generated $1.8 billion in operating cash flow, returned $1 billion to shareholders, and ended 2025 with debt-to-EBITDA of 2.1x and $1.8 billion liquidity. Management expects a soft start to 2026 with improvement in the second half.

Governor Ivey announces record-breaking year for Alabama economic development. MONTGOMERY - Governor Kay Ivey announced the release of the 2025 New & Expanding Industry Announcements Report, marking a record year for economic development growth in communities across the state. The Alabama Department of Commerce annual report lists 234 projects last year that combined for a total capital investment of $14.6 billion, the highest annual total in state history, along with 9,388 new job commitments. "Alabama's economy is riding a wave of historic momentum, with signs of success in every corner of our state. Innovative developments, high-quality jobs and transformative investments are ushering in an extraordinary era of prosperity, as new companies move in and existing ones expand," said Governor Ivey. "This growth is the result of a strategic economic development plan and the hard work of a team that is focused on keeping Alabama at the forefront of a competitive global economy." Governor Ivey said the report reflects a broader economic transformation that has taken place since she took office in 2017, guided by a deliberate focus on business recruitment, workforce development and long-term growth. She highlighted her disciplined, results-driven strategy during her state of the state address. "Being a former economic developer, I knew our first opportunity was to recruit and support businesses. Since then, we have seen investments totaling $69 billion which has created 100,000+ jobs - and counting," said Governor Ivey during her address. "Alabama consistently ranks among the top ten states for doing business." Growth was seen in a wide array of business sectors, such as biosciences, technology, metals and advanced materials, automotive and aerospace, forestry and wood products and more. * Pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly and Company plans to spend more than $6 billion to build an advanced manufacturing operation in Huntsville and Limestone County. The synthetic medicine active pharmaceutical ingredient facility, which will create 450 jobs for engineers, scientists, lab technicians and other skilled personnel, represents the largest initial investment in Alabama history. * ArcelorMittal is investing $1.2 billion to build a facility in Mobile County to produce a specialty electrical steel that is used in EV motors and other applications. The project will create more than 200 jobs. * Owens Corning announced plans to open a $325 million state-of-the-art shingle manufacturing plant in Prattville that will add 89 jobs in Autauga County. The growth was not limited to Alabama's largest cities. Rural Alabama also made a strong showing in 2025, as the state's "targeted" rural counties combined to register a total capital investment of $2 billion and 2,011 new job opportunities. One substantial investment in this region is Georgia Pacific's plans to spend $800 million in Monroe County to modernize, expand and streamline production capabilities at the company's Alabama River Cellulose mill. The project will make the Perdue Hill facility the largest softwood pulp mill in the U.S. The report showed a total of $3.6 billion in foreign direct investment projects in 2025 that are set to create 2,274 new job opportunities. Governor Ivey affirmed Alabama's economic development team is ready for more success this year and beyond. "We are open for business, ready to embrace new challenges and poised to welcome even more world-class companies, advanced technologies and breakthrough products," said Governor Ivey. "They should look no further than Sweet Home Alabama, and we plan to get them here." Commerce Secretary Ellen McNair said the results confirm an impressive debut for "Catalyst," the Commerce Department's new strategic economic growth plan. At the same time, initiatives such as SEEDS and Growing Alabama are helping communities prepare industrial sites and infrastructure, while business and government leaders collaborate on ways to maintain a competitive edge. "We are confident that 'Catalyst' will continue to map solid growth in key industries," said Secretary McNair. "Our economic development efforts are thriving, and we have all the ingredients to continue that momentum, creating jobs and prosperity for every Alabamian."
