- Graduate of a Medical Imaging program.
- Obtain Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer certification through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Registered Cardiac Sonographer certification through Cardiovascular Credentialing International within 12 months of hire.
- Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull a minimum of 40 pounds.
- Ability to function without use of lip reading, with a hearing aid permitted.
- Corrected visual acuity for distant and near objects and the ability to read small print.

- Perform advanced non-invasive cardiac imaging procedures for the Cardiac Laboratories.
- Perform proper billing of procedures and prioritize patient scheduling.
- Coordinate and prioritize patient scheduling to ensure procedure completion in a timely fashion.
- Obtain information before testing, answer patients' pertinent procedure questions, and interact courteously with patients and their families.
- Perform all non-invasive imaging procedures within established guidelines and timeframes.
- Notify appropriate medical staff of significant abnormal findings.
- Document performed procedures in the patient chart to inform the physician that testing is complete.
- Calculate and measure cardiovascular structures from procedure data to aid the physician in interpreting results and achieving a diagnosis.
- Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of equipment, procedure rooms, and work areas in the Cardiac Laboratories.
- Complete accurate documentation through EPIC to ensure proper billing.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and unit information.
- Support the development of Cardiac Sonographer I staff by providing ongoing performance feedback.
- Participate in education and in-service opportunities to maintain and enhance knowledge.
- Onboard new sonographers through department orientation, in-service training, and education as a preceptor.
- Provide a preliminary report on each study in a timely manner and review it with the physician.
- Follow and implement cardiac protocols and policies.
- Participate in training on cardiac ultrasound techniques and procedures.
