Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing and 2 years of clinical experience required
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing with the State of Michigan
  • Advanced Nursing Specific Certification preferred
  • Department specific requirements as necessary such as PALS, BLS, ACLS etc.
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification through PQF or NCC is required within 6 months of completing intermediate fetal monitoring for Unit Coordinators in Labor & Delivery and Mother/Baby/Antepartum at Bronson Methodist Hospital & Bronson Battle Creek Hospital (BBC)
  • Master's degree in Nursing preferred
  • Previous management experience preferred
  • Formal or informal leadership experience preferred
Responsibilities
  • Function as leader and clinical liaison with staff, physicians and management, providing continuity of leadership day to day.
  • Assist with hiring, orientation, monitoring and evaluating performance, problem solving, employee counseling, staffing, payroll and budget.
  • Serve as contact for internal and external customers.
  • Maintain a safe environment of care and ensure quality standards; implement and monitor processes.
  • Evaluate quality and appropriateness of care; conduct audits for accreditation, regulatory requirements and organizational standards.
  • Coordinate day-to-day unit operations including patient placements and staff assignments; supervise staffing and scheduling; coordinate department staff schedule with manager input; adjust staffing to meet needs; manage volume changes and call-ins; approve/deny PTO.
  • Participate in recruitment, selection and retention of personnel; assist manager in staff hiring process; support shared governance and staff meetings.
  • Mentor staff, act as clinical expert resource, maintain positive relationships and teamwork; provide input into guidelines, policies, and standards; stay current with guidelines and procedures.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to staff related to job performance; develop Personal Development Plans with manager; monitor staff performance; act as role model, coach and mentor; evaluate employee performance with manager input.
  • Co-facilitate planning and conducting of shared governance meetings; mentor staff chair of shared governance; facilitate charge nurse and unit meetings; report to nurse manager.
  • Participate in the recruitment, selection and retention of personnel; assist manager in the staff hiring process; support an environment encouraging innovation and creativity.
