Requirements
  • Graduate degree in a related field (e.g. social work, public health, behavioral health, public policy)
  • Minimum of 5-10 years professional experience
  • Minimum of 5-10 years management experience
  • State or local health department experience
  • Experience working on addressing health and/or social disparities and advancing health equity. This experience could include work in promoting health equity through data analysis and application, planning, program development, community partnerships, organizational policies and practices
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses on social media, news media, or other information sources to inform programmatic efforts
  • Demonstrated ability to create strategies that are evidence-informed to reach priority populations
  • Ability to explain scientific and medical content in plain, easy to understand language
  • Previous work with community or faith-based organizations with outreach to priority audiences and an understanding of power dynamics, historic mistrust and other barriers to authentic community engagement
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and engage partners and stakeholders, and foster new or current partnerships (e.g. with Community Based Organizations (CBOs), national organizations and state and federal agencies), and conduct advocacy, outreach and community engagement activities
  • Manage projects with CBOs and nonprofit organizations
  • Experience working in a fast-paced work environment with tight deadlines
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Preferred: CBO or nonprofit experience
  • Preferred: Behavioral science, social science, or public health training or experience in vaccines or immunization programs
  • Preferred: Verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish or other languages of priority audiences
  • Preferred: Previous work with COVID-19 mitigation or vaccination efforts
  • Preferred: Previous experience working in multicultural workplaces and settings

Responsibilities
  • Support development and implementation of policies, strategies, or programs to advance racial equity. Integrate strategies to advance health equity and racial justice throughout public health efforts
  • Work with CBOs and other organizations to identify barriers to vaccination among populations and identify and implement strategies to mitigate the barriers
  • Provide input on the cultural aspects of communications products and materials. Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to develop products that meet target audience needs
  • Foster stronger partnerships with other departments in government, among community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, and community partners and stakeholders
  • Serve as the focal point for equity work and work with CBOs within the Vaccine Program
  • Prepare qualitative and quantitative reports for leadership and for continuous improvement
  • Develop and implement strategies for information sharing on CBO and equity work across jurisdictions
  • Attend ongoing communication and training opportunities that support enhancement of vaccine equity strategies implemented at the department, state, local, and community level
  • Participate in Adult Immunization Program consultation with assigned CDC Adult Immunization Specialist
  • Develop health equity resources on diversity, equity, and inclusion and conduct internal staff training to educate internal departments and programs on health and vaccine equity
  • Develop and manage program evaluation and monitoring plan of all vaccine equity activities
  • Coordinate with health equity coordinators, including in other jurisdictions, and participate in health equity committees at the state and local level, as applicable
  • Develop inventory of all health and vaccine equity activities implemented at the program, state, local, and community level
