Requirements
  • Must possess a current New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Diagnostic Radiography license and current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification or be ARRT eligible.
  • If ARRT eligible, must attain certification within one year of employment and maintain throughout employment.
  • Two years of experience in Diagnostic Radiology required.
  • Computer literacy.
  • The successful candidate must maintain valid certification by the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR.
  • The individual must be able to pass a medical evaluation and a respirator fit test and wear an N95 particulate filter respirator mask in accordance with PEOSHA standards as a condition of employment.
  • Annual Respirator Fit Testing required.
  • Must be certified in the service to which the candidate is applying MRI; CT; Angiography.
Responsibilities
  • Explains the exam to the patient according to age-specific needs to gain cooperation, minimize anxiety and optimize desired results.
  • Positions, immobilizes, and images patients according to approved departmental protocols as well as equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability.
  • Selects appropriate pulsing sequences respecting established protocols and other factors influencing acquisition parameters.
  • Determines proper and satisfactory radiographic technique exposure factors.
  • Verifies informed consent where required.
  • Scans and accesses patient record via Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archive Communications System (PACS).
  • Accesses images for review on the console of the CT, MRI and Interventional Suite as well as from PACS.
  • Corroborates patients clinical history with procedure assuring information is documented.
  • Prepares patient for procedures; providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
  • Independently operates and cares for equipment and other technical instruments/associated equipment to achieve desired results used for administration of contrast agents, patient monitoring, surgical instruments to achieve desired results.
  • Selects appropriate program respecting established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.
