Requirements
  • 7+ years of hands-on engineering experience, with a focus on big data and distributed systems.
  • 3+ years experience as an engineering leader with a track record of translating ambiguous business requirements into scalable solutions and new product features.
  • Expertise with batch data processing frameworks such as Hadoop, Spark, EMR, etc.
  • Expertise with big data technologies such as Argo, Apache iceberg, AWS glue, Spark, Metaflow, DBT, and Soda.
  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to inspire, motivate, mentor, and retain top engineering talent.
  • Proven ability to influence without authority (e.g. driving process improvements, spearheading architecture enhancements, etc.).
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP).
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards (e.g. HIPAA, EDI) is highly desirable.
  • Strong sense of ownership and proactive problem-solving mindset.
  • A willingness to “roll up your sleeves” and do whatever is necessary to ensure company success.
  • Experience working in a rapidly evolving startup environment.
  • A desire to be a part of our mission to improve the U.S. healthcare system.
Responsibilities
  • Provide technical oversight and drive new features with a focus on Garner’s strategic mission.
  • Build a high-performance team by mentoring, providing feedback, and hiring.
  • Continuously strive for quality while maintaining speed of delivery.
  • Balance between greenfield features and scaling existing systems.
  • Collaborate across disciplines by identifying bottlenecks and risks, proposing mitigation, and communicating tradeoffs.
  • Protect our users’ privacy and security through best practices.
