Requirements
  • A four-year degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • At least two years of experience in a Security Operations Center or Cyber Security Incident Response Team may substitute for the education requirement.
  • A security certification such as Security+, GCIA, GCIH, or CISSP is required.
  • Experience managing cases with enterprise Security Orchestration, Automation and Response, Security Information and Event Management, or Incident Management systems is required.
  • Experience supporting network and host investigations is required.
  • Analytical expertise, close attention to detail, critical thinking, logic, and adaptive learning abilities are required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
  • A thorough understanding of fundamental security and network concepts, including operating systems, intrusion detection, Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol, and ports, is required.
  • Willingness to work in a team-oriented environment is required.
Responsibilities
  • Detect and assess cybersecurity events and incidents across the Target environment.
  • Collaborate with skilled analysts to address complex or difficult problems within a 24x7 Cyber Fusion Center environment.
  • Implement new processes and procedures identified by the Cyber Security Incident Response Team and Cyber Fusion Center leadership to continuously improve monitoring, detection, and mitigation capabilities.
  • Monitor Security Information and Event Management and logging environments for security events and alerts indicating potential or active threats, intrusions, or compromises.
  • Work with the Cyber Threat Intelligence team to maintain awareness of the global threat landscape.
  • Triage service requests from customers and internal teams.
  • Escalate cybersecurity events according to Target’s Cyber Security Incident Response Plan.
  • Assist with threat containment and environment remediation during or after an incident.
  • Participate in Cyber Hunt activities under the direction of one or more Target Incident Commanders.
  • Document event analysis and write comprehensive reports of incident investigations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with host- and network-based security tools is preferred.
  • Experience with network monitoring in a Security Operations Center environment is preferred.
