Arcadis to design four-tower development in Ottawa.

Arcadis to design four-tower development in Ottawa. March 24, 2026 By Peter Saunders Turn Group has selected Arcadis as lead consultant and architect for its development at 299 Carling Avenue in west-end Ottawa's Little Italy neighbourhood. The transit-oriented project will replace a parking lot with 750 residential units and 600,000 sf of mixed-use space. Formerly owned by Canada Lands Company, the site will be redeveloped with four towers, ranging from 13 to 30 storeys. It is near the O-Train light-rail transit (LRT) system, the Central Business District and Dow's Lake. The plan calls for pedestrian-friendly pathways. Arcadis will oversee all design deliverables, including architecture, interior design, building information modelling (BIM), landscape architecture, civil engineering, traffic and planning services. "This project represents what our integrated cross-country design teams can deliver," says Scott Arbuckle, the firm's country director for Canada. "From client engagement and advisory services to architectural design and civil engineering, our teams are committed to shaping a development that is functional, sustainable and attuned to Ottawa's urban fabric and character." "This project will contribute to a mixed-use neighbourhood that is both cohesive and community-focused," adds Jan Steingahs, manager of Arcadis' living practice group. Stories continue below

MCK pursues next steps on toll project with feasibility study.

MCK pursues next steps on toll project with feasibility study. The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that it has secured global industry-leading firm Arcadis to consult and conduct the Tolling Feasibility Study, which will explore the potential implementation of tolls across Kahnawà:ke's existing roadway network. Arcadis is recognized worldwide for its expertise in engineering, tolling system advising, and technology driven sustainable design, with operations in more than 70 countries. Their experience spans across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe and Asia. The company generated over $5B in revenue in 2024 and has led major projects including the tolling system for the Gordie Howe International Bridge. This feasibility study will assess technical, financial, environmental, infrastructural, and community perspective factors, and is expected to take 6 to 12 months to complete. Additional factors will be analyzed, such as the potential impacts that tolls could have on the local economy, traffic congestion, safety and security, and jurisdiction. This work represents Kahnawà:ke's continued exploration of the project's viability and will provide recommended options on the type of toll that would best be suited for Kahnawà:ke roadway network. In the fall of 2025, MCK established a community team to evaluate the necessary components that would need to be considered for any tolling framework. This team includes experts in transportation, public safety, finance, and infrastructure. Discussions continued in January 2026, further refining the areas of study and ensuring that community needs, rights, and safety remain central in the evaluation process.

Every section of Inland Rail in NSW now approved

Every section of Inland Rail in NSW now approved. The approval of the last 15km of the Inland Rail line in NSW marks a significant milestone Christine Little March 11, 2026 - 03:54 Updated, March 11, 2026 - 03:56 Every NSW section of the Inland Rail is now approved. That's the latest from the Australian Rail Track Corporation and its team constructing the 1600km freight rail line connecting Melbourne to Brisbane via regional Victoria, NSW and Queensland. The Narrabri to North Star Phase 2 (N2NS Phase 2) section has received Australian Government approval - at just 15km it marks a significant milestone for the Inland Rail project with all NSW sections of the line now formally approved. The N2NS Phase 2 project was assessed by the Australian Government under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999. With primary regulatory approvals in place, Inland Rail will continue to work with the design services contractor, joint venture partners Arcadis BG&E, to progress the design of the N2NS Phase 2 project. It includes the upgrade of about 12km of existing rail track and formation across the Gwydir Valley floodplain, north of Moree, and the construction of 1.6km of greenfield rail track to bypass the existing Camurra Hairpin and a new 1.3km spur to maintain connection to the Weemelah line. Phase 1 works were completed in 2023. Inland Rail is taking a staged delivery approach, with sections between Beveridge in Victoria and Narromine in NSW already under construction or completed, on track ready for double-stacked operations by 2027. The entire Inland Rail route has been divided into 12 sections, with construction on the first section taking place in Parkes on the Parkes to Narromine (P2N) line, officially beginning on 13 December, 2018 and was completed and became operational in September 2020. The 170-km Stockinbingal to Parkes section, in the south and takes in Forbes, began in September 2023 and was completed in January this year, marking the third of 12 Inland Rail sections to become fully operational. Future decisions on the construction of Inland Rail north of Narromine are a matter of consideration for the Australian Government.
