Requirements
  • A broad understanding of legal and regulatory requirements related to the operation of Mercer Global Investments Europe Limited, including Irish and European Union investment regulation, particularly Markets in Financial Instruments Directive, Undertakings for the Collective Investment in Transferable Securities, and Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive requirements related to the Mercer Funds.
  • A minimum of three years of investment compliance experience.
  • The ability to take initiative and ownership of assigned responsibilities.
  • The ability to prioritize activities while working on multiple tasks and achieve target deadlines.
  • The ability to work effectively within a small, fast-growing team and assist in developing that team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Fluency in English is essential.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor investment restriction and guideline breaches arising in respect of the Mercer Funds in Ireland, including sustainability-related commitments across the platform.
  • Perform reviews and consider potential investment vehicles against relevant regulations and fund documentation for the Mercer Funds and other portfolios.
  • Liaise with the fund manager regarding investment issues across the Mercer product range.
  • Support regular liaison with the depositary of the Mercer Funds, maintain logs, and review regulatory reports.
  • Monitor quarterly investment management questionnaires and oversee due diligence of investment managers.
  • Assist in reviewing fund documentation before launch and on an ongoing basis.
  • Roll out, track, and review quarterly employee declarations and oversee the personal trading monitoring system.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures supporting a culture of integrity, risk management, and excellence in the Investments business in Ireland.
  • Assist with identifying potential risks and financial services compliance issues associated with new products, services, and jurisdictions in the Investments business.
  • Review and approve marketing materials and requests for proposals for the Mercer Funds and regulated investment activities.
  • Prepare various reports for senior members of the Investment business as needed.
  • Support the governance process relating to the Investments business and the entities that host it, particularly the Risk Committees and the Board.
  • Conduct periodic compliance monitoring assessments of the business and, where necessary, third-party providers.
  • Develop and conduct periodic training for Investments personnel relating to regulated activities.
  • Assist with managing regulatory matters and compliance issues, including correspondence with regulators, overseeing regulatory examinations, and implementing new regulations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Good knowledge of fund structures, different fund types, and different asset classes.
  • Fund compliance experience, particularly in the investment funds industry.
  • A current role in a Risk, Audit, or Compliance group of an asset management or regulatory advisory firm.

US employers plan 3.2% merit pay rises for 2027 amid economic uncertainty

US employers plan to maintain moderate salary increases in 2027, according to Marsh's Mercer QuickPulse survey of 1,001 organisations. Base salary merit increases are projected at 3.2%, with total salary increases at 3.5%, marking four consecutive years of similar rates. Economic uncertainty continues influencing compensation decisions, with 57% of employers expecting at least moderate impact. High Tech (3.8%), Banking (3.7%), and Energy (3.6%) lead in merit budgets, whilst Consumer Goods (2.9%) and Healthcare (3.0%) lag behind. Employers expect to promote 8.4% of their workforce in 2027, down from 8.6% in 2026. Off-cycle salary adjustments remain common, with 64% of organisations providing them. AI adoption in compensation planning is growing, with 70% of organisations reporting some automation, primarily for market pricing recommendations and benchmarking.

Marsh beats Q1 estimates with $7.6B revenue, $3.29 EPS as organic growth hits 5%

Marsh reported Q1 revenue of $7.6 billion, up 7.6% year-over-year, beating the consensus estimate of $7.38 billion by 2.88%. Earnings per share came in at $3.29, compared to $3.06 in the prior-year quarter, surpassing the consensus estimate of $3.21 by 2.46%. Key metrics showed mixed performance against analyst expectations. Consolidated organic revenue growth of 5% exceeded the 3.5% estimate, whilst consulting organic growth of 5% topped the 4.4% forecast. However, Guy Carpenter's organic growth of 2% fell short of the 4.2% estimate. Geographically, Marsh's EMEA division generated $1.21 billion in revenue, up 14.1% year-over-year and beating estimates. Mercer consulting revenue reached $1.66 billion, an 11% increase that surpassed the $1.58 billion consensus.
