Job Summary: This is an exciting role in a growing company. The ideal candidate for the position is someone who has experience designing, analyzing, building, and testing heavy lift electromechanical systems such as weapons positioners, construction or manufacturing equipment, and robotics. In this role, you will work closely with a talented engineering team to analyze and design cutting-edge positioner assemblies to steer our high-power microwave systems.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and decompose requirements for positioner systems, including bounding load cases, weight budgets, and interface diagrams.
- Own the full-stack mechanical assembly from wheels on the ground up to the HPM end effector, leading the iterative design of the various subassemblies and integration motion control system elements including motors, actuators, sensors, and controllers
- Work closely with other engineers to ensure structures survive harsh transport and operational loads and assist in redesign and optimization of mechanical systems.
- Lead the build and integration of the positioners, including manufacturing storyboarding, final assembly, and troubleshooting
- Hold design review presentations with peers and act as an expert electromechanical reviewer
Basic Qualifications:
- BS degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural or similar engineering field.
- 8-12 years of experience in mechanical design and analysis, especially of electromechanical azimuth and elevation pointing mechanisms.
- Expert level comfort with mechanical design packages such as SolidWorks or equivalent
- Expert level comfort with Finite Element Analysis and structural hand calculations.
- Comfortable assembling prototypes and first-article builds, including test, troubleshooting and minor fabrication
- Ability to understand electrical schematics, diagrams and interconnects
- Experience analyzing and/or testing systems under static loading, shock, and vibrational environments including random vibration.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- MS degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural, or similar engineering field.
- Experience configuring and integrating motor controllers/motor drive unit
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Collaborative; capable of working across all levels of the organization
- Organized; comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment

As required by the Equal Pay Transparency Act, Epirus provides a reasonable range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.
For the state of California only, the range of starting pay for this role is:
$153,100—$182,900 USD
