Kahuna Workforce Solutions announces strategic partnership with Oracle to connect core HR operations with frontline execution.

Kahuna Workforce Solutions announces strategic partnership with Oracle to connect core HR operations with frontline execution. The seamless integration bridges the gap between corporate HR and on-the-ground operations, equipping regulated industries with real-time competency tracking to drive compliance, safety, and productivity. HOUSTON, Sept. 02, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) - Kahuna Workforce Solutions, a leading frontline workforce readiness platform trusted by enterprise organizations, today announced a strategic partnership with Oracle to bridge the gap between core human resources and daily operational execution. By integrating Kahuna's validated skills and competency management platform to Oracle Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM), enterprises can now leverage a unified, skills-forward HRIS ecosystem that aligns corporate talent strategy with actual on-the-job capabilities. As highly regulated industries face widening skills gaps and increasing compliance pressures, traditional HRIS platforms often struggle to capture the granular, day-to-day capabilities of frontline staff. This collaboration introduces an integration that feeds Kahuna's dynamic, validated operational skills data straight into Oracle Cloud HCM. Large enterprises gain a singular source of truth for their workforce, allowing them to balance long-term talent management and workforce planning with real-time operational needs. The joint solution delivers targeted operational benefits across three heavily regulated, frontline-dependent industries: * Healthcare: Streamlines hospital and healthcare system workflows by continuously tracking specialized clinical competencies to ensure the right, fully qualified clinicians are staffed for specific unit and patient acuity, while automatically maintaining survey readiness for strict healthcare regulations. * Manufacturing: Enhances plant-floor productivity by providing clear visibility into machine-specific certifications and operator capabilities, surfacing skills gaps, enabling automated, qualification-based job scheduling, and accelerating time-to-productivity for new hires. * Energy: Mitigates high-consequence operational risks in field environments by giving dispatchers real-time visibility into safety certifications and operational competencies, verifying that only fully compliant, qualified technicians are assigned to hazardous environments. "Enterprises shouldn't have to choose between a corporate HR strategy and a bedside- or field-ready operational workforce," said Jai Shah, chief executive officer of Kahuna. "By pairing Kahuna's deep frontline competency mapping with Oracle Cloud HCM's platform, we are giving companies the exact tools they need to run safer, smarter, and highly compliant operations." The integration between Kahuna and Oracle Cloud HCM is generally available to enterprise customers starting today. Oracle CEO touts 'Star Wars' AI productivity gains after cutting 21,000 staff

Oracle CEO Mike Sicilia told investors the company expects "Star Wars" levels of productivity from AI-assisted software engineering. Speaking at Deutsche Bank's 2026 Technology Conference, Sicilia described current AI coding capabilities as something he would have dismissed as fantasy when he began his career in 1993. The optimism comes as Oracle's workforce shrank by 21,000 employees over the past year, dropping from approximately 162,000 to 141,000. The company attributed the reductions partly to AI deployment across operations and warned it may initiate further restructuring. Meanwhile, Oracle has barred contributors to OpenJDK from submitting AI-generated code, citing risks involving safety, security, and intellectual property. Customers have also complained about Oracle's AI-powered support portal, reporting broken links and limited functionality.

Oracle cuts 3,000 India jobs whilst raising $48B to fund AI data centres

Oracle is cutting roughly 3,000 jobs in India as part of broader workforce reductions driven primarily by financial strain from its AI data centre buildout, according to The Economic Times. The company's total headcount fell by 21,000 employees, a 13% decline, during fiscal 2026, ending with approximately 141,000 staff. Oracle's capital expenditure jumped to $55.7 billion from $21.2 billion the previous year, creating a $23.7 billion cash shortfall. The company raised $43 billion through debt and $5 billion via stock sales to fund the expansion. The firm recorded $1.8 billion in restructuring charges under its 2026 Restructuring Plan, with total anticipated charges reaching $2.1 billion. Some eliminated roles are in categories Oracle expects to need less due to AI adoption. Oracle's stock rose approximately 5% following the announcement.

New Mexico court ruling slows orbit of Project Jupiter.

New Mexico court ruling slows orbit of Project Jupiter. Roz Brown 31 Aug 2026, 05:18 GMT+ A New Mexico climate justice organization said emergency rulings by the state Supreme Court related to construction of a massive artificial intelligence data center are a hopeful sign. The court recently issued two orders to pause a well water permit and a proposed air quality permit for Doña Ana County's Project Jupiter. Both orders came in response to petitions from environmental groups alleging a lack of due process. Jonathan Juarez, campaign organizer for the group Youth United for Climate Crisis Action, believes some developers view New Mexico as the next place to "cash in" without addressing citizen concerns. "This is just the first step in slowing this process down to a pace where our communities can actually meaningfully participate in the process and receive access to information about what they're being asked to live with in the long term," Juarez explained. Project Jupiter would be one of the largest AI infrastructure complexes in the nation. Data centers can deplete local water supplies, even as New Mexico's decades-long drought continues. Following the ruling, primary backer Oracle said it remains committed to developing Project Jupiter responsibly and protecting local resources. In a pitch to local officials, AI proponents promised high-paying jobs and tax revenue. But critics countered data centers are not labor-intensive, and once they're built, they employ anywhere from dozens to a few hundred permanent workers. Sayrah Namaste, New Mexico program co-director for the American Friends Service Committee, said there are unanswered questions about the Santa Teresa campus. "The big thing they promise is jobs for local people and yet Project Jupiter missed two deadlines for jobs reports. So, I like this idea of a moratorium. Let's pause and see the impact before these things are fast-tracked," Namaste urged. Juarez stressed it is important for young people to pay attention to AI issues, because they will inherit the consequences of decisions being made now. "We're talking about AI infrastructure on a scale that our country has never seen before and a scale that New Mexico has never seen before," Juarez noted. According to Juarez, environmental assessments and permit filings show Project Jupiter could produce more annual greenhouse gas emissions than Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Las Cruces - the state's three largest cities - combined. Several environmental groups, including the Rio Grande chapter of the Sierra Club, brought the legal challenges.
