Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Hold state licensure and meet national certification requirements.
  • Have a working knowledge of hospital and rehabilitation department policies and procedures.
  • Work varied hours and weekends as required to meet patient needs.
  • Maintain patient and employee confidentiality.
Responsibilities
  • Carry out treatment in accordance with the physician’s prescription and the treatment plan documented by a supervising Occupational Therapist.
  • Observe hospital rules related to patient care and treatment.
  • Care for equipment and apparatus, use supplies, lines, and utilities economically, and maintain department cleanliness.
  • Complete documentation required by hospital and rehabilitation department policies and procedures.
  • Verify patient information by interviewing patients, reviewing or recording medical history, and confirming the purpose of treatment.
  • Provide rehabilitative services to occupational therapy patients under the direction of occupational therapists.
  • Treat disabilities, injuries, and diseases using prescribed modalities and professional occupational therapy assistant skills.
  • Carry out treatment plans to restore, compensate for, or adapt to loss of patient function.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year of hospital experience.
  • Ability to fabricate all varieties of splints.
