Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Software Development Engineer in Test, with strong experience testing backend systems, is required.
  • Proficiency in Python, Java, Scala, or Go for test automation is required.
  • Hands-on experience with API testing tools such as Postman for distributed systems is required.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines and test execution in Jenkins, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or similar environments is required.
  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining automated test frameworks such as pytest, JUnit, or TestNG is required.
  • Experience working with databases for backend validation is required.
  • Experience with cloud and container technologies such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, or Docker is required.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog for validating service health is required.
  • A strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and agile methodologies is required.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and test scripts for machine learning inference services and related machine learning platform components using Python or Java.
  • Build and automate realistic, representative test account creations and datasets to evaluate model behavior across different scenarios.
  • Validate score distributions, ranking behavior, output quality, and other model signals for incoming machine learning models before release.
  • Perform functional, integration, regression, API, performance, and load testing using RESTful APIs, microservices, and databases to verify inference-service scalability, latency requirements, and reliability under production-like conditions.
  • Work closely with machine learning engineers and operations teams to ensure that features and bug fixes include automated test coverage and support continuous integration and deployment.
  • Debug and analyze test failures and model anomalies, and report defects.
  • Drive quality standards for engineering decisions and customer-facing features through effective test and automation strategies.
  • Develop and implement scalable and maintainable test-automation best practices.
  • Monitor test execution and optimize performance in test environments.
  • Develop solutions to organizational problems.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience testing machine learning systems, including recommendation systems, search-ranking systems, or other probabilistic machine-learning applications.
  • Experience creating synthetic or seeded test data to simulate realistic customer and account behaviors.
  • Experience evaluating model outputs using statistical techniques, distribution analysis, or scenario-based validation rather than deterministic assertions.
  • Knowledge of data pipelines, feature stores, inference systems, or model-serving infrastructure such as Seldon, KServe, or Ray Serve.
  • Experience testing online services with high requests-per-second and low-latency requirements.
  • Experience with performance and load-testing tools such as Locust, k6, Gatling, or JMeter.
  • Experience with Databricks or similar machine-learning platform tooling.

PlayStation is the brand behind Sony Interactive Entertainment’s gaming hardware, services, and studios. It creates and sells game consoles and related devices, runs the online PlayStation Network and subscription services, and develops and publishes games through PlayStation Studios. The product set works as an ecosystem: a console for playing games, a network for online play, digital storefronts for buying games, and a large portfolio of first- and third-party games from its studios around the world. Compared with rivals, PlayStation relies on a long history of console generations, a big collection of exclusive games, and a global network of studios to offer unique experiences that are tied to its hardware and services. Its goal is to provide engaging, borderless play experiences for players worldwide, continually delivering new hardware, services, and games that bring people together.

  • Reuters said Sony raised 2026 gaming profit guidance despite lower PS5 sales.
  • PSN reached a record active audience in late 2025, strengthening recurring revenue.

What critics are saying

  • Sony cut 900 PlayStation jobs in February 2024 and more Bungie staff in June 2026.
  • Bungie layoffs hit Destiny and Marathon, exposing live-service execution risk and portfolio churn.
  • Bluepoint, Dark Outlaw, London Studio, and Firewalk closures show a recurring studio attrition problem.

What makes PlayStation unique

  • PlayStation pairs console exclusives with PS Plus and network services, not hardware alone.
  • Sony’s studio network spans Bungie, Haven, Firewalk, and Insomniac, enabling portfolio depth.
  • PlayStation Portal and PC releases extend the ecosystem beyond the PS5 box.
