Leave of Absence and Accommodation Specialist

  • Communicates with employees regarding their needs for leave and/or accommodations
  • Ensure employees are aware of their responsibilities and of any documentation and notice required to qualify for leave/accommodations
  • Initiate and manage the ADA interactive process with employees, direct managers, and People Business Partners
  • Educate managers on what constitutes reasonable accommodations as needed
  • Handle the leave administration process from initial notice to return to work
  • Maintain reasonable communication with employees on leave to facilitate smooth and timely return to work; relay communication between employees and their managers during leave within reason
  • Advise managers and employees on the interaction of leave laws with paid time off, workers compensation, and short-term and long-term disability benefits
  • Partner with the Recruiting team to ensure ADA compliance
  • Oversees the return-to-work process for employees returning from extended FMLA, workers compensation, or other leave(s)
  • Facilitates other leave and accommodation requests, which includes accommodation requests under the ADA
  • Drafts and/or recommends revisions to company leave policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations
  • Maintains complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in accordance with specified legal requirements and documentation of best practices
  • Preserves confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files
  • Maintains knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including the FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of Leave Management experience
  • International leave administration experience (Europe) highly desired
  • Experience with the Leave Management Solutions platform is highly desired (Sparrow)
  • Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and organizational skills
  • Ability to ask thoughtful questions to understand past precedents and practices
  • Proven relationship management skills required to effectively partner with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Gsuite
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct root cause analysis and problem resolution
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Have a desire to care for and support our employees as they navigate different life scenarios while exuding warmth, positivity, and professionalism
