Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Encourage daily attendance through engaging instruction and student and family communication.
  • Deliver high-quality, standards-aligned lessons using only resources, online programs, and instructional materials provided by Performance Academies.
  • Address achievement levels, articulate clear and appropriate learning goals, and align lessons with state standards.
  • Implement differentiated instruction and interventions to support diverse learning needs.
  • Participate in student retention, recruitment, and enrollment efforts at the request of the Principal or Superintendent.
  • Use data and assessment results to personalize instruction, help students fill learning gaps, and monitor their growth.
  • Develop lesson plans from the approved curriculum using varied techniques, visual aids, creative projects, and technology.
  • Teach Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies using inquiry-based and experiential learning approaches.
  • Use curriculum maps and pacing guides in lesson planning.
  • Use formative and summative assessment data to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies.
  • Maintain accurate documents, schedules, and student work samples and provide them to the Principal or Superintendent when requested.
  • Ensure field trip forms are signed, dated, submitted to the office, and accompanied by written consent from parents or guardians for every participating child.
  • Teach and communicate challenging learning expectations for all students.
  • Implement Marzano, Marva Collins, and other instructional methods prescribed by the school.
  • Maintain a clean and inviting classroom through engaging, well-planned instruction.
  • Implement Character Education daily and post student work.
  • Use content knowledge, research-based instructional strategies, and evidence-based practices to help students meet rigorous academic standards.
  • Monitor, support, and provide feedback regarding online use of curriculum resources.
  • Inform school leaders about activities, progress, obstacles, and successes in student achievement.
  • Establish and maintain a positive, respectful classroom environment that promotes academic success and emotional well-being.
  • Supervise students and ensure that no child is left unattended or unsupervised.
  • Implement and consistently enforce the school's behavioral expectations, routines, Dragon Dollars, PBIS, and discipline policies.
  • Execute the school's mission, vision, and educational goals in daily classroom practices.
  • Report suspected child abuse or neglect immediately to the Principal, Assistant Principal, and/or Superintendent before contacting Children's Services or local law enforcement.
  • Promote equity, inclusion, and integrity in interactions with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Follow the staff handbook and student handbook/code of conduct.
  • Monitor student understanding, provide appropriate feedback, and adjust instructional activities as needed.
  • Set, communicate, and post clear student expectations and goals.
  • Communicate lesson objectives and instructional procedures to students.
  • Ensure lesson content is comprehensible to students.
  • Encourage students to extend their thinking across multiple levels of depth of knowledge.
  • Use classroom instructional time effectively.
  • Achieve at least one year of academic growth based on value-added assessments such as NWEA MAP pre- and post-testing and achieve acceptable state-mandated test passage rates of at least 60% in all subjects taught when teaching a tested grade.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom environment that celebrates diversity and supports students' social and emotional development and fairness.
  • Send a completed incident report home for any student injury within 24 hours, without including other students' names.
  • Collaborate with teachers, instructional coaches, and support staff to design and implement interdisciplinary units, projects, TBTs, and BLTs.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching effectiveness, curriculum knowledge, and pedagogical skills.
  • Participate in IAT or IEP meetings for students being evaluated for special services and prepare required documentation, including student work samples, curriculum-based measures, and behavioral documentation.
  • Participate in school-wide events, faculty meetings, committees, and in-service training before and during the school year.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress, classroom events, and school activities.
  • Participate in activities intended to increase school enrollment.
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school outreach activities.
  • Maintain all keys, computers, and school equipment.
  • Advocate for students, foster positive family relationships, and encourage family involvement in education.
  • Adhere to Performance Academies' policies, procedures, and attendance requirements.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Superintendent, Principal, or Assistant Principal.
  • Dress in professional attire appropriate for a school setting and adhere to the staff handbook.
