Requirements
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain or related field
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in engineering, supply chain, technical sourcing
- Work experience in a new product introduction (NPI) and legacy sourcing environment is preferred
- Experience with mechanical tool design is preferred
- Work experience in manufacturing or related experience is preferred
- Experience with a high mix/low volume procurement environment is preferred
- Ability to work on multiple cross functional projects simultaneously
- Ability to develop strong relationships with key stakeholders to drive proper rigor in supplier selection process
- Self-motivation and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage rapid changes typical during the NPI development process
- Skilled at pricing negotiations and terms & conditions negotiations
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office software packages
- Excellent communicator, ability to lead in an environment of in-direct control
- Communicates effectively in a dynamic, multidisciplinary team environment to meet internal and external customer demands
- Excellent analytic and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lead and influence change in the face of complexity and ambiguity
- Proficient with managing and understanding cross-cultural business practices

Responsibilities
- Proactively communicate with the design engineering teams prior to and during the NPI development process to understand their current & future needs for new product components; influencing by leveraging industry experience
- Work with the Mechanical Category managers on sourcing decisions that are aligned with their strategies. Provide the tools, methodologies, techniques, and technical insight to drive intelligent sourcing of mechanical products
- Seek cross-functional team agreement on discrepancies
- Establish strong relationships with manufacturers and their associated representatives to understand product roadmaps and availability to support future product development
- Work with the sourcing team to develop and ramp component sources for new/existing products and support the purchasing team's efforts to ensure components are purchased in a timely manner for the different engineering builds
- Assist the respective category managers and cross-functional category teams in developing and executing multidimensional commodity strategies that support the NPI work stream with an emphasis on cost optimization, time to market, technology, quality, supply continuity, supply chain consolidation, service, and risk mitigation
- Support negotiations of Axon pricing at the component level for mechanical commodities; partnering with the category managers to develop and execute negotiation strategies with new product suppliers to achieve specific targets for pricing, service, quality & delivery
- Ensure supplier awards for new business are leveraged in pricing negotiations
- Identify and manage the implementation of cost reduction opportunities on new/existing products in collaboration with the category management and continuous engineering teams
- Identify risks in our current supply chain and work together with the mechanical category manager, continuous engineering team and component engineer to qualify additional sources of supply for critical components. Lead teams in identification of risks/hazards relative to new/existing product designs, processes, suppliers, and applications
- Assist the mechanical category manager & Legal teams in negotiating and executing optimal contract terms with key new/existing suppliers
- Participate in the supplier selection process and ensure supplier selections are based on sound selection criteria for new product introduction and existing product activities to select the right supplier for the part, considering long term fit and total cost of ownership
- Participate in periodic business reviews with key suppliers to review supplier performance on new/existing product programs
- Own the development and maintenance of the approved manufacturer's list
