Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or equivalent education for licensing.
  • Be eligible to practice as determined by the State Board of Nursing.
  • Have less than one year of experience working as a registered nurse; no experience is required.
  • For Illinois work locations, provide an official passing score on NCLEX results.
  • Hold Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association, or obtain it within 90 days.
  • For Illinois work locations, obtain Registered Professional Nurse licensure within three months of the official NCLEX pass date and provide the official NCLEX pass letter.
  • For Missouri and Oklahoma work locations, provide NCLEX results for registered nurses within three months of the graduation date and take the NCLEX within 30 days.
  • For Wisconsin work locations, provide NCLEX results for registered nurses within three months of the graduation date, take the NCLEX within 30 days, and obtain a Wisconsin Nursing Temporary Permit.
  • Work scheduled night shifts from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., including every third weekend and holidays.
Responsibilities
  • Perform delegated nursing care tasks under the direction of the registered nurse preceptor based on demonstrated competence.
  • Perform patient assessments covering biophysical, psychosocial, spiritual, cultural, age-appropriate, nutritional, pain-management, and abuse-or-neglect needs to develop, evaluate, and modify patient care plans.
  • Develop comprehensive patient and family education plans using appropriate resources and instructional methods, and provide health education and coaching.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation, including processing physician orders where applicable.
  • Monitor and evaluate nursing care delivered by team members based on patient needs and professional judgment.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding all aspects of patient care.
  • Participate in training to understand and perform patient care.
  • Complete competency requirements satisfactorily.
  • Complete required training and seek assistance or ask questions as needed to learn and understand the role.
  • Demonstrate professional nursing standards defined in the professional practice model and use the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Nurses to guide responses to patient and population health needs.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Participate in the SSM Health New Graduate Nurse Residency Program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
