Senior Backend Engineer

Our customers range from warehouses, schools, hospitals, hotels, and many more, and we are growing rapidly. We are looking for someone to join our team to help us scale our systems to meet the user demand and to ship new features.

Our engineering team is composed of industry experts with decades of research and experience from Lyft, Google, Zoox, Toyota, Facebook, Microsoft, Stanford, Oxford, and Cornell. Our go-to-market team consists of experienced leaders from Verkada. We are venture-backed by 8VC + Mosaic, revenue-generating, and have multiple years of runway.

The role

We are looking for someone to help us grow our system to meet the user demand. Our stack cuts across many technologies (front-end, backend, edge-computing, ML), and you will be responsible for a large part of our backend stack.

This involves:

• Design and implementation of the APIs, databases and data pipelines.
• Ensure the system can scale to the growing traffic, have full observability and drive down the cost.
• Taking end-to-end responsibility over delivery of features, maintaining high SLA and debugging issues.
• Supporting a broader front-end, edge-computing and ML team.
• This is a 5-days a week in-office role.

Requirements and experience we are looking for

• 5+ years of industry experience and having built systems of reasonable scale
• You should be familiar and have experience with either Go or Python
• In particular, you should have experience designing, implementing, debugging, scaling, and optimising APIs, databases and pipelines as the traffic grows to multi-TB scale.
• It would be great if you also have experience with one or more
• • infrastructure-as-code solutions (we use Pulumi over AWS).
  • monitoring (we use Grafana).
  • authentication (we use Auth0).
• High intrinsic motivation to succeed and ability to work hard.
