Requirements
  • The candidate must have some technical, programming, or scripting experience, such as application programming interfaces, automation, or Google Apps Script/JavaScript.
  • The candidate must be able to work independently and communicate clearly.
  • The candidate should be resourceful and demonstrate a can-do attitude and strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • The candidate must be familiar with or willing to learn Google Workspace, Gemini, Jira, Salesforce, and iCIMS.
Responsibilities
  • Guide and support a small team of junior engineers working on internal tools and scripts.
  • Ensure that teams make progress on their assigned tasks.
  • Serve as backup for other Tech Team leads when needed.
  • Organize and track technical tasks using tools such as Jira.
  • Assist in interviewing and onboarding new technical volunteers.
  • Commit approximately six hours per week for at least six months.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous leadership or mentoring experience in a nonprofit environment.

JerseySTEM runs hands-on, project-based STEM programs for underrepresented middle school girls in New Jersey. Through partnerships with corporate sponsors, youth organizations, and college volunteers, it delivers experiences like robotics and climate action projects that build critical thinking, teamwork, problem-solving, and self-esteem. Programs are designed and carried out in collaboration with sponsors and partner groups, ensuring access to STEM learning in community settings. JerseySTEM differentiates itself by specifically serving NJ girls at the middle-school level through a grassroots, nonprofit model that links classroom experiences with real-world applications and corporate sponsorships to expand the talent pipeline. Its goal is to reach 2,600 girls by 2026, empowering them with tools and knowledge to pursue STEM futures and contribute to a diverse, inclusive field.
